Dang it. We had 2 men's compound semifinalists at Asian Qualifiers in Archery today and both of them lost by 1 point

Archery Asia CQT quotas:

Men's W1: :IRI

Men's Compound: :HKG:MAS

Men's Recurve: :MGL  :SRI

Women's Compound: :CHN:CHN

Women's Recurve: :KOR:THA

(Women's W1 seems to be reallocated to world qualifiers)

because of new policies, Iran is going withdraw almost half of the Paralympics quotas ! :yikes: including quotas in team sports like wheelchair basketball and 5-a-side football !! :yikes: which is unbelievable because Iran finished 4th in last edition of World Championship in W-basketball and also this football team won the silver medal in Rio Paralympics !!

never been a huge fan of Paralympic sports but this is unbelievable

Ranking period is over for para-dressage. Team qualifiers are as follows: :USA:AUT:BEL:DEN:ITA:SWE:RUS

Additionally, we have several continental qualifiers: :CAN (Americas), :SGP (Asia), :AUS (Oceania). African quota was not filled, meaning four more quota places will be redistribued between individuals.

Europe: :LAT:FIN:NOR

Americas: :BRA:BRA:MEX

Asia: :HKG:KSA:HKG

Africa: :RSA:RSA + reallocation

Oceania: :NZL:NZL + reallocation

Reallocations: :FRA:IRL:SUI:POR:CZE:POL

+ 3 more Bipartite places (here's hoping :CRO will be one of them - we have an eligible athlete :pope:).

there were lots of petitions and campaigns (or whatever you can call it) in social media to change that stupid policy and finally it was successful. Iran NPC officially changed its policy (at least regarding team sports) but it was already too late for the football team :( they didn't confirm their participation before the deadline and therefore their quota goes to :THA Thailand !  but at least it wasn't too late for wheelchair basketball and they will participate in Tokyo paralympics.

but the whole story is unbelievable, and those poor blind footballers will pay the price :cry: I wonder if there is any other country in the world with this level of mismanagement :crazy:

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
