For something non-Algerian related, apparently Chile filed a protest that Byron Castillo is a Colombian national and used a fake passport while playing for Ecuador in the qualifying

This is and "old story" , Byron Castillo and Ecuador already have established the authenticity of citizenship more time, but the doubt survive (why?)

 

Castillo played Sudamericano Sub-17 (2015) and FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015; selected for  Sudamericano Sub-20 (2017) but not included in final list for the doubt of Nationality.

 

In February 2021, an investigation started to determine if Castillo was Ecuadorian or Colombian.  Finally, on 24 April of that year, his Ecuadorian nationality was confirmed.

Played eight matches of FIFA World Cup qualifiers (September 2021/March 22).

 

 

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF)  says can prove he hasn't broken any rules.
