Yee and Butterworth 1-2 again in the women's steeplechase, but just outside the auto qualifying time.

However, with the results Yee will move into 38th, and Butterworth, will be 44th out of 45.

Tomorrow stories to watch out for:
First race, Harrison and Abdul-Rashid .27 seconds outside their SB in qualifying directly. They need the standard atp to qualify.

Taylor Erdhardt had an amazing first 4 events, and then blew it in the 400, however, if he can get PBs all 5 events on day 2, he has an outside shot.

Adam Keenan goes in the hammer throw, he needs a huge result to go to Tokyo. There are 4 Russians listed ahead of him.

Michelle Harrison with a 12.98.... now .14 away from the standard. Today's race was in horrible conditions (heavy rain) so maybe she can pull it off on Tuesday (her last chance)

Adam Keenan just threw 72.87m at nationals, which will put him tied in 35th position (with the German athlete holding the TB). THere are three Russians in the rankings whose results can be discounted, so it looks like Adam is just going to miss the Olympics based on a tiebreak!

Unfortunately the men's hammer will not be held on Tuesday, but if they could add it last minute, he can get more points.

Tomorrow's storylines:

Jordan Young in the discus, will need the standard. SB is 1.16m away from the standard.

Rachel Anders + Trinity Tutti in women's discus will also need the standard

Lucia Stafford will try to hit the standard to join her sister in Tokyo in the 1500, but she is also in a ranking spot

Charles Philibert-Thiboutot will need the standard in the 1500 to qualify

Michael Mason + Django Lovett chase the standard in the high jump. Mason is comfortably in with a quota in the WR, but Lovett will need a 2.24+ jump and a top 2 finish to move ahead in the rankings into the top 32 (currently in 33)

Diving update:
Vincent Riendeau will not compete at nationals, which means the team going to Tokyo will likely have 9 divers

3m: Ciprick is competing, Fofana could challenge. No Gagne unfortunately, doesn't appear his injury has fully healed.

10m: Zsombor Murray/Wiens + Riendeau for the synchro event

3m: Abel, Ware, Citrini-Beaulieu (synchro)

10m: Benefito + McKay (individual + synchro)

The conditions have been an issue all weekend - I hope that the meet on Tuesday goes better for some of these athletes on the bubble.

Tuesday is going to be intense. It did sound from the post event interview with Jordan Young that the Discus was being held on Tuesday. Maybe they’ve added it in or maybe I’m mis remembering.

I thought I heard that too but wasn't sure. He needs the standard. So close too!

    • @hckošice Do you agree with me to some extent, or am I hopelessly dreaming?
    • Interesting forecasts, I like 'em! I think the US wins the most medals, but Norway tops the standings (most golds)... have Germany neck-and-neck with Norway for medals, but fewer gold.    Then have Canada and Italy fighting it out for 4th in 5th   Then have Sweden, Austrian, Japan, Netherlands and France rounding out the top ten, with them all within a medal or two of each other. Of course reality will differ significantly
    • A huge day for the very young Italian Bertini: despite a very tough draw, he beats Szilagy in the round of 16 and Gu in the quarterfinals! First career podium for him!
    • Time for more personal and detailed predictions:    will have it hard this time.   I'm trying to stay realistic about our chances. We're not going there as favorites in most events, and deep down I know it would be a big surprise if we suddenly overperformed or even dominated. Still, sports have a beautiful way of ignoring expectations.   We're never predicted to do amazingly well at either edition of the Olympics, so I’m desperately hoping for moments that will stay with everyone in the country for years, whether it's a final that keeps people glued to their screens or a performance that will make us proud. Just one medal could mean so much. It would bring real emotions and something to cheer for to a country that isn’t going through its best period right now. And on the rare occasion of a hockey miracle, celebrations in the streets wouldn't be an oddity.   It all comes down to four sports, the rest are out of reach:   Alpine Skiing is a big mystery, and it will all come down to Petra, whether she'll compete and eventually shock everyone with a heroic result. That's the best-case scenario. Biathlon can be the dark horse, you never know how things turn around. The women's relay is probably our biggest chance, but all four of them need to deliver great performances. As for Ice Hockey, our national sport, I'll always believe in another fairytale. I'll always believe we'll pull off a miracle. Since I wasn't alive yet when we won gold at the World Championships, I can only resort to watching old videos and imagine how amazing it must have been to watch as your country is the champion of the world in something. Best on the planet. Even the silver years later was amazing, but I was too young to actually remember it, so it's time for another hockey euphoria in the country. Ski Mountaineering is a bit overlooked in the media right now, but I believe we have a huge chance of winning a medal in one of the events. Our athletes aren't minnows.   We're a small country, still relatively young. There's not much we're known for in the world, but sports are a perfect way to build a national identity, to stop people from thinking you're still part of a state that ceased to exist decades ago. Doing well in sports is one of the few things these lesser-known countries can show off, not just the ones in Europe.   I'm desperately hoping for a medal, and we all want those two weeks of the Olympics to be amazing and full of unforgettable moments.
    • Never wanted a prediction to be more right
    • Two weeks before the Games officially begin, time to give my final predictions on the medal standings.     will beat  and win the medal table at the WOG for the first time in 100 years. All the (absurd) retirements of elite Norge athletes last season will have its consequences and they will drop to second.    will my bold pick to return to the top 3 after their horrendous Beijing performance, when it comes to Gold medals.     Germany will slip down and will have less than 9 golds for the first time in 50 years. Depending on how the chips fall in some sports, they could even be outside the top 5.   Home team of  will have their best Olympics in some, better than Torino, but it still won't be enough to get into the top 5.
