Nice to see some vintage ski jumping nations such as Fins and Czechs there. Hopefully they regain something and come back one day

1991/92 was the last season where almost half of the field was still using the parallel technique. It was basically all gone come 1993.

Was it not the Swedes that invented the flying V?  Or perhaps were just the first to perfect it.

Jan Boklöv invented it, got bad scores for that ”ugly” style.

 

I see him once in a while, he is a recreational curling player now.

Like said above, Jan Boklov first started using it during 1986/87 Four Hills and broke though as the inventor though there were others who also tried the V style. And he always got low style marks but eventually the longer distances outweighted the marks to the point he won the 1988/89 overall World Cup (Jiri Malec won bronze at 1988 OG normal hill using this style as well). From that point onwards more jumpers started to switch over, the first one being Swiss, most notably Stefan Zuend.

Tonight’s qualifying round for the Jumping in Ruka has been postponed till tomorrow - seemingly all the German skis are lost in transit.    Have been sent to Rouen rather than Ruka.
