@thiago_simoes I wonder what are your thoughts on gymnastics events here.

I voted on Chechi on rings and Kanaeva in the all-around.

No one can beat Chechi's elegance and control. Csollány would have been my second choice. Azaryan would have been my third choice, even though he's from a totally different time and even his namesake skill is not used anymore. But he was decidedly elegant and strong for his time.

On the women's side, it's quite shocking that no Olympic champion has really captivated me. I voted on Kanaeva mostly because she has two titles, but my favorite has got to be Marina Lobatch. Lori Fung would have been my third choice.

Athletics, men's 800m...maybe Rudisha was really the best specialist ever to run the distance, but I don't trust anymore any Kenian/Ethiopian success in the last 40 years at least, therefore my pick is "el caballo" :CUB Alberto Juantorena, a man that could really make any race exciting a lot more than the current top specialists.

Judo, men's Lightweight...my pick is :JPN Shoei Ono, despite this class has seen many very good representatives. But he's the only man to repeat himself on the Olympic mat, and that's a lot in this sport.

Judo, women's Lightweight...this is a difficult choice, as many of these Olympic champions didn't prove themselves durable, consistent at the top of the ranking of this weight class. My pick here is :ESP Isabel Fernandez, maybe the only one to be an exception to what I wrote before.

Artistic Gymnastics, men's Rings...:ITA Yuri Chechi...the true Lord of the Rings, who else?

Rhythmic Gymnastics, Individual All-Round...rankings written well before the actual competition is held, unfair winners...is that worth any attention? :WHT I pass on this event.

@phelps Shohei Ono is 13-0 here, the gold medal looks to be assured. Noone else has got a single vote yet.

So who would you choose for the minor medals in this category?

:JPN Toshihiko Koga would be my second choice (he also won an Olympic silver medal and 3 world championships gold medals in his career) and :ITA Ezio Gamba (an Olympic silver and 3 consecutive world championships silver medals in his career, signing an era in the judo history...and now by far the best coach in the world) the third choice...

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
