Speed Skating ISU Single Distances World Championships 2019

Recommended Posts

Today the team sprints and the 5.000m for men and 3.000m for women. Quite exciting draws:

5.000m men:

  1. :CAN Graeme Fish - :JPN Takahiro Ito
  2. :CAN Ted-Jan Bloemen - :NZL Peter Michael
  3. :NED Jorrit Bergsma - :BLR Vitaly Mikhailov
  4. :ITA Michele Malfatti - :JPN Ryosuke Tsuchiya
  5. :NOR Håvard Bøkko - :CAN Jordan Belchos
  6. :RUS Sergey Trofimov - :ITA Andrea Giovannini
  7. :ITA Davide Ghiotto - :NED Sven Kramer
  8. :RUS Alexander Rumyantsev - :BEL Bart Swings
  9. :NOR Sverre Lunde Pedersen - :RUS Danila Semerikov
  10. :NED Patrick Roest - :GER Patrick Beckert

The favorites and outsiders spread out throughout the draw with Bloemen, (WR holder) in pair 2, Bergsma in pair 3, Kramer (3x Olympic champion) in pair 7, Pedersen and Semerikov (both won a World Cup this season) in pair 9 and Roest in pair 10.

3.000m women:

  1. :NED Carlijn Achtereekte - :NOR Sofie Karoline Haugen
  2. :NOR Ida Njåtun - :NED Ireen Wüst
  3. :JPN Nana Takagi - :GER Roxanne Dufter
  4. :EST Saskia Alusalu - :CAN Valerie Maltais
  5. :GER Claudia Pechstein - :RUS Elena Sokhryakova
  6. :RUS Evgeniia Lalenkova - :JPN Miho Takagi
  7. :NED Antoinette de Jong - :JPN Ayano Sato
  8. :ITA Francesca Lollobrigida - :RUS Natalia Voronina
  9. :CAN Isabelle Weidemann - :CAN Ivanie Blondin
  10. :CZE Martina Sáblíková - :BLR Maryna Zuyeva

The entire top 13 of the Olympic 3.000m in Pyeongchang are starting here, with the Olympic Champion Achtereekte already starting in pair 1. Pretty stacked draw I would say.

@heywoodu What's up with these "talentNED" suits?

Pretentious as hell.

It’s a sponsor. It’s an organization that focuses on developing Dutch talent in different sports. ;)

Pedersen! :cheer:

She finished 4th? So I guess you didn't want her to medal?

I celebrated when she took the lead, alas it wasn't enough. :(
