I can only realistically say the games will likely be delayed to earlier part of 2023 (still a bit of spacing between them and the PAGs). CACSO said in their statement that the Games will still happen in 2022. I think Colombia could pull off 2022. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. PHI2019 189 Posted August 8, 2020 #833 Share Posted August 8, 2020 Rich Perlman of the Sports Examiner is reporting that the United States is planning to launch a bid for the 2027 World University Games (Summer Universiade). Olympian1010 7,490 Posted August 14, 2020 #834 Share Posted August 14, 2020 CACSO (Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization) has called an extraordinary general assembly with less than 24 hours notice for members, media, etc. The topic will be finding a host for the 2022 Central American and Caribbean Games. Around the Rings is reporting that Barranquilla will be selected. If true, to the best of my knowledge, that will make them the first city to host a major international multi sports games back-to-back. PHI2019 1 “Sport has the power to change the world. Olympian1010 7,490 Posted August 31, 2020 #836 Share Posted August 31, 2020 I somehow stumbled across all the results for the 2017 Winter Military Games today, so I can cross those off my list of results I’m after. @heywoodu Any clue why none of the South American biathletes attended the games? “Sport has the power to change the world. For most of them I'd suggest it is because they aren't in the military, but Fabrizio Bourguignon of Brazil definitely is. Although he may have just focused on the regular IBU Cup season and gone home then. The Brazilian federation is all about letting athletes compete in the IBU Cup (where the federation collects money for every start), less about paying all kinds of special stuff like going to the Winter Military Games As for Chile, Juan Agurto is in the military, but there as well I'm not sure whether time and such allowed for a trip to an event like this. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! The only reason I asked is because they had made an effort to compete at previous editions. I feel like this is the event (outside of an Olympic appearance) they should target. Generally, the field for these Games isn’t the strongest, and they could place well. I will say, one thing that is awesome about the Biathlon competition at the Winter Military World Games is that the Military Patrol event is still on the program The next edition of the WMWG is scheduled for March 2021, but I’m almost certain they will be cancelled. “Sport has the power to change the world. Olympian1010 7,490 Posted September 8, 2020 #840 Share Posted September 8, 2020 Another one bites the dust! 4th CISM Winter Military Games are postponed. No new dates given yet. My guess is that it would have to be December 2021, March 2022, or winter 2022/2023.
