heywoodu 14,889 Posted September 2, 2019 Author #271 Share Posted September 2, 2019 Dorian has slowed down even more, it's now moving with 1 mile or 2 kilometers per hour...which means passing Freeport alone would take 5-10 hours and that's just for the eye, not the wall around it. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! I mean, a week ago it looked highly unlikely Dorian would even come close to category 5 and now it's been totally destroying the land it hit. Then gaze your eyes on this. He made that prediction hours before Charley made a direct hit at my town I knew a week ago we were gonna get Dorian, but only as a tropical storm or even a Cat 1, and now I'm here awaiting a hit (mostly indirect since I'm inland)
bestmen 2,785 Posted September 2, 2019 #273 Share Posted September 2, 2019 Dorian is not going to hit Florida , looks like Tommy Lee Jones did his job
heywoodu 14,889 Posted September 3, 2019 Author #274 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Dorian has been stationary (yeah, it's not moving away...at all!) for 7-8 hours now. This is just ridiculous and pretty much never seen before. Poor, poor Bahamas. dcro 10,210 Posted September 3, 2019 #275 Share Posted September 3, 2019 I doubt it's as bad as Irma on Antigua and Barbuda in 2017. Antigua and Barbuda should really be just Antigua these days, because nobody lives on Barbuda since then. #banbestmen

If a category 5 monster has been pounding the same island for over 24 hours (which in itself is unheard of) while barely moving, I really don't think it'll be much better than the scenes on Barbuda..it might have been if it had moved in a somewhat normal pace, then it would have been long gone now. dcro 10,210 Posted September 3, 2019 #277 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Apparently it very quickly dropped to category 3. #banbestmen

Yep, warm water is running out because it's been more or less in the same position for so, so long. Still looks like it's gonna be several hours before the Bahamas are going to be free of devastating winds and rain and after that it's time to see what's still left standing and if anything is still habitable.
