How come?

They played 3 (50%) matches less than Guatemala in this tournament... Certifiable format.

I would like Guatemala to qualify, because it will be their only chance to have a team in collective sport in Paris, the Dominican Republic has a big chance in women's volleyball to have a team

Quarterfinals

:USA vs :CRC

:PAN vs :HON

:DOM vs :JAM

:GUA vs :MEX

Huge upset in the Round of 16 as the low-ranked Dominican Republic upset Group G winners El Salvador. Dominican Republic got a bye for the Round of 16. Technically, they are ranked lower than some of the earlier pushovers ( :SKN :ARU and such).

Guatemala defeated Canada in another small surprise.

However, as we know, those who create a surprise are very seldom able to replicate it. This will be a very easy quota for Mexico.

Top half is more interesting. I suspect however that Honduras' qualification streak will end this time. Surely the States will not mess things up yet again.

A very easy quota for Mexico :p

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

At first I was with Guatemala here, but now I kind of root for Dominican Republic. We are two events into the Olympic qualification, and if they win, we will already witness a truly miracle qualification.

They didn't even have a Wiki page for their U20 team when this tournament started. :p

DR has never qualified for any world event in football. And not even for the gold cup either.

Now they are qualified for U20 WC and kind of favorite for an olympic quota. Crazy.
