Uefa Futsal Cup

Elite round has started with two Italian teams: Pescara (host a group) but have tough opponents (Barcelona and serbian team Ekonomac); Luparense play in Hungary and can fight for the first place.

Other groups: the favourites are teams that host their group: the Portuguese Sporting CP (Group B) and the Spanish  Inter FS (the holders of the trophy)

Only the winners of groups will progress to the finals.

Uefa Futsal Cup

Qualified at final four : Sporting CP  :POR , FC Barcelona :ESP  and Győri ETO FC :HUN

Last team will be decided between Inter FS :ESP and Kairat Almaty  :KAZ

Disappoint for Italy, Luparense lost the decisive match in last 4 minutes (a draw would be enough).

We already have quarterfinals in the 2018 Asian Championships

Lebanon vs Iraq

Iran vs Thailand

Japan vs Bahrain

Vietnam vs Uzbekistan

today was very surprising that Iran beat Iraq today only 5-3 after two one-sided matches ! now I'm a bit worried about the Thailand match . they lost to Lebanon but that was just an accident. they are still a very very tricky opponent for Iran. for winning the title Iran has to go through all 3 main rivals. Thailand (QF), Uzbekistan (SF) and Japan !

Iran beat Japan 4-0 for the 12th Asian title. but the match wasn't really easy, for whatever reason our players sometimes lose confidence against Japan. Japan was even a bit better before the 1st goal but when Iran scored in the last minute of the 1st half that was easy from then.

winning Asia is nothing new for Iran but this time they won it much easier, they are improved a lot since last tournament . interesting that one match changed our futsal , I'm talking about that Brazil match in World Cup 1/8 final.

Uefa Futsal Cup

:champion: Inter FS    :ESP:champion: beat Sporting CP :POR (5-2) to claim fifth title UEFA Futsal Cup. They are only the second team to retain title.

Sporting suffer third final defeat.

Next the tournament 2018/2019 will become UEFA Futsal Champions League, while there will still be preliminary, main and elite rounds, played as one-venue mini-tournaments leading to the four-team finals, there will be a slight change to how those stages work.

Other news for next UEFA season: will be introduced new women's and men's youth U19 competitions

• A UEFA Women's Futsal EURO  starting in 2019.

• An Under-19 Futsal EURO Final Tournament September 2019 (Nation hosts will be announced on 27 September 2018, qualifying draw: 1 November 2018 )

    • To be fair, the only way to make the qualifying day shorter is by allowing fewer athletes and I really don't think that's a good trade-off for the sport. Qualifying day can be the biggest spectacle one can imagine, it's still not going to draw amazing viewing numbers anyway, since it's basically just laying the foundation for the weekend.   Ice resurfacing definitely takes a while if done properly, if pushing it they could maybe get it done just under 15 minutes or so. I'm a little afraid it goes the way of athletics, where things are pushed more and more into ever shorter formats. Shorttrack days and sessions can only realistically be made shorter if they spread a World Cup out over 4 instead of 3 days, but it's not like Thursday is going to be a massive audience day.
    • I wish the ISU would make each of the sessions shorter… they all last between 3-5 hours (and sometimes 10 hours with the qualifying sessions) and me personally I find it highly annoying and unnecessary, because there’s so many breaks in between (for ice resurfacing it’s understandable, but it doesn’t take the 15-20 minutes long breaks to do it…)
    • The only thing I can think of that has gotten in the way can be geo-restrictions, like the Fridays being available on YouTube, but not the Saturdays and Sundays, preventing new people from really getting into it. Somehow I doubt a new format means it will be made more welcoming for new viewers though...
    • But what can be improved? Broadcasting has for years already been excellent, with races that are quite clear to follow and fine graphics that have all we need. How is "Suzanne Schulting for the Dutch Lions!" instead of "Suzanne Schulting from the Netherlands!" going to make it a better 'broadcast product'?
    • I do think we need a rethink of how short track is packaged as a broadcast product given how little money is involved. Pretty hard to make a living in that sport.
    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
