Are you saying that France wanted to play against Denmark instead of Norway? If so, then there is no way that this is true. Denmark is the favorite for gold.

I am also not sure whether France would have finished 2nd anyways if Germany would have won their match against Spain?

For me it's 50/50 between Norway and Germany, but 60/40 in favor of Denmark in the other semifinal.

France is always very dangerous when it comes to finals , they know how to win these matches very well , if i was them i'd prefer to rest some players and to avoid playing with Denmark and Germany at home , as the host always get some help from referees , so it's much better to play Denmark in Semis in Hamburg rather than playing them in Denmark , ofc it's just a guess i can't say they did that on purpose

Unlikely, AFAIK, they've never done it on purpose and they didn't do it against Russia during the first group wich would have give them a slighty better schedule for the second round.

I believe, they didn't really care one way or the another, and that was obvious on the court.

Edit: one of the most amazing statistic about this team: since Beijing 08, out of the 28 KO games they played, they won 25 of them :yikes:

Denmark will be champions for sure.

Sniff sniff Do I smell a norwegian upset? Hope so :p

Hopefully not, the 2 best teams deserve to be in the final. A final between the 2 co-hosts would be a great end to this record-breaking tournament.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Norway  they're heading into final for the 2nd time in a row , what an achievement  , but unfortunately they'll likely miss Rod in the final :( at least we'll have a new champion which sounds good

    • is having its general election today.   In a big turnaround, the Liberals lead by Mark Carney are now ahead in the polls, after having been over 20 points behind as recently as December. This is mostly credited to the resignation of Justin Trudeau and America's on and off trade war, along with comments Donald Trump made about Canada becoming the 51st state.   While the Liberals are favoured to win a fourth consecutive election, there is a lot of uncertainty around whether it will be a majority or a minority government. There is also an outside chance of the Conservatives, lead by Piere Poilievre, will form a minority government.
    • Ukraine has made progress recently and lost yesterday on penalties to the UK, but that still doesn't explain why the Italian team isn't making any progress. We are sitting in a lower division for 3 years and that's with a ban for Rus and Blr. New and great coaches are being brought in and it's not giving any results. 8-10 years ago we were regularly playing in the highest division, every 2 years and that was with a much stronger teams (Russia and Belarus were there). I don't know where the problem is.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
