Sport Climbing IFSC World Cup 2022

Recommended Posts

Splitting bouldering and lead might be a bit more difficult. It was quite clear that sprint was different than the other two events while these two are similar enough in terms of skill that someone at the IOC may not see the difference.

The good news is they don't need to request a lot of quotas. If a split bouldering and lead event were to have the same number of athletes as sprint, they only need to request 8 men and 8 women quotas. Though I wish they would bump sprint up to at least 16 so there are no byes during the elimination bracket.

:INA finish 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 at the first Speed World Cup of the year. Oh, and…Kiromal Katibin casually sets the new WR a 5.17 :yikes: @Griff88

And then they work their way up to a fantastic final, former against now current world record holder...only to have that final be a huge anticlimax due to false starts :(

Such a great event, with great races, ending in such a way...that was unfortunate.

He hasn’t found too much success on the World Cup (4th at Salt Lake last year was best previous result), but Brosler finished in the top 16 at the last two world championships, and was 5th at the 2017 World Games. He

Katibin inching ever closer to the 5.00 mark. Another WR in qualification today.

Another classic battle in the eternal rivalry of :MON v :POL in the women’s bronze medal matchup in the Villars. This time :MON take it. :MLT not even in it.

    • So 5 of Australia's top 6 current WTA players were not born in Australia. Only Gadecki was.   At least Birrell lived most of her life there and Joint has an Australian parent. Even Saville at least eventually married an Aussie even though when she first got citizenship it was a total joke.   Tomljanovic and Kasatkina playing for Australia is so weird. Also it's quite pathetic a country like Australia, with so many resources for tennis, has to keep naturalizing players because they can't produce their own talents...

    • It comes down to what is taught in Poland about the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Union of Lublin isn't shown as unfavorable for Lithuania as it really was. A lot of the southern territories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was "given" to Poland but it was actually stolen by Poles, the Polish language overpowered the Lithuanian one among the elites, the common coin was Polish-based. At one point, the PLC starts to get treated like one big country, with Vilnus as one of the major cities of Poland. The Vilnius University shown as an important Polish university, Mickiewicz calling Lithuania his home while writing in Polish, etc. The whole stuff after the World War One is barely touched in the high school when barely anyone cares about history anyway, I guess most people don't even know it. With this lack of the knowledge, Vilnus is one of the lost Polish cities, just like Lviv. The current animosities are down to the early 2010s and Grybauskaitė being the president of Lithuania - when there was the increase of the Lithuanian subjects taught in the Polish schools, troubles with Polish surnames, places' and streets' names. The Polish hooligans were also quick to pick it up. To be honest, Lithuania isn't looked down at but people don't understand why Lithuania has the right not to like Poland.
