Alejandra Contras told me there was work going on behind the scenes to get sport climbing added when I interviewed her at the Pan American Championships. She should have a shot at a medal, so I’m happy for her. I also love sport climbing, so I’m happy for me too.

Also, fuck bodybuilding over bowling, squash, and racquetball

Exactly, bodybuilding is just legal competitive sports doping.

Its because there is no venue that has to be built (it shares with weightlifting). THe other 3 require new venues in CHile.

Well, all three could be staged at private venues, just ask the respective PanAm federations to contribute to the cost of leasing the venues.

As I have written in this article, the World Masters Games, a massive sporting event in Japan in May, 2021 will be the canary in the coal mine for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021.

I am definitely familiar with canaries in coal mines, but I had never actually heard it used as an expression. Already loving this event now :d

No multi-sports games in 2020. I don’t know how many years it’s been since we’ve had a year without a multi-sports games :(

Oh right :d

Doesn’t make the rest of my year any better, but that does save the year as a whole a little bit. To be completely honest, it feels like Lausanne 2020 was over a year ago at this point.

It depends... if you count the start of the decade on 2020 and a start of century on 2000, why not start the year from February...
