The final of the European korfball championships will be played between the Netherlands and.......Germany! The Netherlands beat Belgium 22-9 in the semi's, meaning it's the first European final that is not NED - BEL since 2002, when the Netherlands beat the Czech Republic in the final. Germany beat Portugal 20-10 in the semi's.

Suriname :SUR join in the Korfball International Federation!

And this week they reached the quarterfinals at the world championships in Durban (South Africa) and got close to kind of a sensational win against Taiwan :yikes:

Round of 16
Belgium - Hungary 27-6
Taiwan - Japan 42-22
Germany - Poland 22-9
Netherlands - Ireland 34-7
Suriname - England 22-18
China - Slovakia 31-9
Portugal - Catalonia 15-11
Czech Republic - Australië 27-15

Quarterfinals
China - Portugal 25-21
Taiwan - Suriname 20-18
Belgium - Czech Republic 27-10
Netherlands - Germany 25-9

Semifinals (Thursday)
Taiwan - Belgium
Netherlands - China

Which means today we had a repeat of last year's ECh final, where Germany surprisingly managed to reach the final.

Taiwan nearly upset Belgium again :yikes:

They had a rather impressive comeback, I believe they went from 18-13 (something like that) to scoring 19-19 in the last half minute. Golden goal had to be played and there Belgium took the win.

Netherlands crushed China 27-12.

Just a little scary when you're going to a restaurant down at the 'docks' (the places you see directly next to the water) with among others your sister's boyfriend who's in an electrical wheelchair and would be nearly impossible to get out of the water if he makes a tiny steering mistake :p

At least your grandmother doesn’t literally fall over the doorstep into your home every time she comes over :p.

    • It's an interesting question, Norway is certainly expanding their efforts into a number of new sports. So, that cannot help but to peal off a few more natural athletes. I know their training methods are kinda rocking the world in a number of summer endurance sports.  I can't really speak to they dynamics of their development program. Their men's nordic programs largely always seem to be ridiculously deep, overwhelmingly so the last decade or so.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
