Manaus (Arena Amazonia)

Sports: Football

Zone: Football Cities (Manaus)

Location: 2851km North-West of Rio de Janeiro

The Amazonia Arena is a football stadium build in Manaus, Amazonia. The stadium has an all-seater capacity of 41,000 and was constructed from 2011 to 2014 as part of Brazil's hosting of the 2014 FIFA world cup.  The venue will host matches of both Rio 2016 Football tournaments. It´s the farthest venue from the center of the events of the Rio olympics.

Manaus is the capital of Amazonas a north region state of Brazil. With a population of more than 2 million it is the most populous city of Amazonas, and also the most populous city of the Amazon rainforest. well known as "the heart of Amazon" Manaus is located in the middle of the Amazon rainforest,  and access to the city is primarily by boat or airplane. This isolation helped preserve both the nature as well as the culture of the city. The culture of Manaus, more than in any other urban area of Brazil, preserves the habits of Native Brazilian tribes. The city is the main entrance to visit the fauna and flora of the Brazilian Amazon. Few places in the world afford such a variety of plants, birds, insects, and fishes.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
