Katie Ledecky's first meet of 2022:

1:54.66 in 200 free (faster than Tokyo)

4:00.95 in 400 free (slower than Tokyo, but faster than any other non supersuited swim except Titmus and one Leah Smith swim)

8:11.83 in 800 free (faster than Tokyo... And anyone else in history, actually. Now owns the top 25 swims ever)

15:40.63 in 1500 free (slower than Tokyo, still faster than anyone else ever except Friis and Boyle)

Also raced the 400 IM and did her 4th best personal time.

A casual weekend :p

2008-born Antonia Rakopoulou :GRE swam 1500 freestyle today in 16:54.70 to win the national winter championship. Her previous PB was 17:09.32.

Greek women's swimming has almost always been extremely less successful than Greek men's swimming for some strange reason (and as our men keep improving year after year, our women keep declining), so it's nice to finally have a decent female prospect after many years. Especially since it would be hard to see Anna Ntountounaki sticking around much longer as she's already 26 years old.

It would be interesting to see what her time would be at an event abroad with a higher level of competition. Obviously her time is nothing special but considering her age, one would expect her to make huge improvements each year for the next several years.

Summer Mcintosh with a  4:29.12 in the 400 im at a test event in Toronto for the Canadian Trials!!!

Almost 3 seconds faster than the winning time in Tokyo. Insane, she is only 15.

And third faster swimmer ever in the event. Katinka's record will be in danger.

I wonder how will be her program in the next major tournaments. She pretty much can swim every free event from 200 upwards, the two IMs, 200 butterfly... Crazy talent.

    • Speak for yourself. Why should we give up our one great talent of the younger generation when we have no one else? Maybe from the same reason that the USA didn't give up Schiffrin to another country when she had 17-18...
    • A very ignorant statement.   Of course the UK is not exactly known for its winter sport but there are some ski resorts mainly in Scotland, like the Cairngorms or the Nevis Range.
    • But in women's epee another defeat by Ukraine. We are slowly developing a complex about this country, because we are constantly losing to them in sabre too. Sabre has always been Ukrainian, epee for a draw or our slight advantage but a failed in women`s foil, which is already a shocking novelty
