Athletics Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016

Recommended Posts

Didnt get the chance this weekend to put the results but anyway so many big names ended up losing.  Allyson Felix.  Aries Merritt. Kendra Harrison.  Johnny Dutch.  Alyssa Montaño.  Leo Manzano.  Galen rupp (though will still run 10 and marathon so dont think there was reason to do the 5)

Probably for Felix her results in Eugene only improve her chance to win the 400m gold anyway :p

Didn't see Harrison losing coming, but then again, women's hurdles in the US is so extremely strong, anything can happen...Dutch participates in probably the most random of all events, where someone can be world class one day and shitty next day, so that's just a matter of seeing how that day is, unfortunately for him.

The worst loss in my opinion was Montaño, being tripped while on her way to having a very good chance to qualify :(

The IAAF world ranking lists for each event, based on the respective qualification periods, will be published on 13 July in the Rio 2016 section of the IAAF website.

The IAAF envisages at this stage that additional places by ranking will be available in the following events:

MEN: 1500m; 3000m steeplechase; Hammer throw
WOMEN: Heptathlon

IAAF has updated the qualified relays

They have included Russia saying it is conditional on the CAS ruling.

Congrats to Ghana for qualifying in the women's 4x100m relay.

How come Jamaica has selected 4 athletes in certain sprint events without naming one of them as reserve or relay-only or something?

Congrats to Ghana for qualifying in the women's 4x100m relay.

So, our women's 4x100m relay will compete in the Games only if Russian ban will extended?
