The first ever combined World Para Snow Sports Championships begin at 9am (GMT) today in Lillehammer,  and continue until 23 January.

 

Most of the sports covered by the Paralympic Games - alpine skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing and snowboarding - are included so we should get a good idea of who is in contention for medals in Beijing.

The  snowboarder Cecile Hernandez will compete in Beijing. Long story short, due to lack of competition, her category has been canceled.  She then asked to compete with lesser disabled athletes which was first denied by IPC. Just like the  Brenna Huckaby before her, she had to go to court in Germany to be allowed in.

 

It's worth nothing that the  federation asked the german court for the poor girl no to be allowed in, because "it would reduce the odds of canadian medals in that event" . Seriously...
