Okay... So, this season is going to be an extreme disaster for the Lithuanian women team. Can't go into much details, but the first two IBU cup sprints are pretty much going to shape if we're able to hold onto 3 spots, but I highly doubt it.

On the other hand, Lithuanian men team might look pretty okay and might even get into top 40 from time to time.

I'm watching the Sjusjoen men's sprint of last weekend, dominated by JTB. But in 24th place I see...yeah, Dag Sander Bjorndalen! The 48-year old brother of youknowwho, team world champion in 1995, who apparently is still active :yikes:

Edit: never mind, it's probably more realistic that this is the 20-year old with the exact same name.

There are Chinese media reports:

The opening of the Norwegian Biathlon League, hosted by the Norwegian Biathlon Association, took place at the Sjusjoen ski base in Norway from November 23rd to 25th. As a traditional strong country in biathlon, Norway has a high level of league competition. This competition is the opening game of the 18-19 season. The Norwegian national team, the German national team, the Belgian national team, the Ukrainian national team and other world first-line teams participated in the competition. A number of Olympic champions and World Cup champions including Norwegian star BØ Johannes Thingnes also appeared. The Chinese biathlon national training team trained here was invited to participate in this competition. Five men and women athletes were sent to participate in the sprint and mass start competitions. The purpose of this competition is to test the results of the previous snow training and warm up the training for the first race of the IBU Cup.

Can anyone find detailed results?

@ wumo26   In addition to these two events, is there any other event in the Norwegian Biathlon League?

No, not before the Norwegian cup start this weekend, but I think Chinese biathletes will compete in the IBU Cup mostly. This event was just a warm up event before the start of the World Cup and IBU Cup this weekend.

According to someone on the Realbiathlon forum, there's good news about a compromise between the Fialkova sisters and the Slovak federation.

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/realbiathlon/next-competitions-t122-s340.html#p8594

Yep, right.

After more than a 11 hours meeting held in the Slovak Olympic Comittee headquarters, both sisters finally signed the new deal around 21:30 yesterday. The national federation decided to accept some requests of both sisters, they in response accepted also some points of the national federation..that´s what I call making compromises...but, why it had to arrive untill this ?..

btw the greatest merit that, this negotiation about the new formuled contract has even been possible, go to the minister of defense and the Minister of Education, Sciences and Sports, both present there yesterday as well, just like some mediators from our NOC.

So, they will both compete already in Pokljuka´s Mixed relay as Slovak females legs.

    • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
    • Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
    • Shemyakina that was a very strange story. She unexpectedly won the games but before and after she literally achieved nothing. After that success in 2012 she also completely disappeared. It's only in epee that such strange situations. That's why I've always preferred foil and sabre, because the top was more stable there, although that's changing now. The competition has grown a lot all over the world.
