XC yesterday didn't happen. There was a lot of wind, so the ski lifts/cable cars weren't working. Then the wind died down for a moment and everyone decided to get in the lift because it started working....and after 2 minutes the wind came back and the lift stopped, so they were stuck in that thing for one hour, moving around in the wind and everything. Not everyone enjoyed it very much

Today there is biathlon!

 

Or....maybe. They're going up the mountain to check it out but nobody is sure yet that they can actually start. If they can, it will be a sprint. Probably....because they're also not sure about that yet

Meanwhile it's been 4-5 hours since I heard anything from out of Argentina, so I'm guessing there was enough snow up there for a race  

 

Or they're stuck in the lift again, that's the other option.

There was biathlon in Argentina

 

Argentinian veteran Maria Cecilia Dominguez won the women's sprint, beating the two most awesome biathletes ever: Bruna Moura in 2nd place and Gabi Neres in 3rd place, of course both for Brazil, which also makes Bruna the new Brazilian champion  

 

The conditions were apparently really hard. The snow was completely fresh, meaning it was really soft and 'heavy', gliding the ski's was near impossible since they dug themselves into the snow every single time. Apart from that, the lap - which had a very large uphill and a short but very steep uphill - was in very bad shape, with holes all over the place where they could see the mud and sand under the snow. 

 

The penalty lap had the same shitty conditions and was apparently rather interesting: it had both a climb and a descent...yes, in the penalty lap  

 

Shooting conditions were not easy neither because of the cold wind. I didn't get full results yet, so far the only detail I know is Bruna shot 2+2 with all four misses right on the edge. Still waiting for the men's results and more details about differences and missed shots

Oh and the uphill/downhill penalty loop:

 

On the far left is where the track goes (behind 'us' is the shooting range), the finger is pointing in the direction of the penalty loop, which indeed starts with a climb  (blue line is to indicate that first turn to the right, immediately after the blue 'fence' is not the turn of the loop yet, that comes in the second part as shown by the line)
