our hockey team is really anti-climatic , after defeating Ireland they lost to Scotland in the vary last minute by a PC and we just finished 3rd

What a waste, now you have to beat Korea and Ireland to qualify.

Same happened to Chile in women's today, they wasted their win with Japan by losing to Russia.

Yeah, Egypt could potentially miss out on competing for an Olympic quota though I think South Africa will likely decline its continental quota should it win allowing Egypt to take it (assuming they stay in the top 20)

this hockey team is anti Olympics and WC :d whenever they're close they do such silly things to keep them out even though we wouldn't qualify from Olympic final qualification tournament OFC

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
