Many rugby accounts I follow constantly report how WR loses a lot of money every year trying to keep the series afloat. I don't know how much truth there is to that but we do keep seeing the svns getting smaller every year + no more real world championship which is worrying.

Spain and France are possibly the only two countries where 7s is thriving right now in terms of funding and interest.

 

But yeah Australia hosting could keep it going for one more cycle (even though only rugby league is really prosperous there).

It would be a shame, it's one of the coolest additions the IOC has ever made to the recent Olympics.
