He pulled the (in)famous Yvonne Nauta 5000 feat. :p

Most likely he just decided to sprint and hope he survives to make the Olympics.

Maybe my calculations are incorrect, but Roest and Blokhuijsen both not starting on the 1.500m may cost the Netherlands a quota on this distance. They're taking such a risk.

Roest finished 19th in the final ranking, which is enough, but still :wall:

Hoolwerf :bounce:

He got a lot of criticism, because he was 24th in the World Cup ranking on the mass start after 2/3 competitions. If he wouldn't be in the top 24 after the final competition today, the Netherlands would lose their maximum number of quota for men of 9. Got the pressure of a whole speed skating loving nation on his back and now he wins the final race!

This explains his most fabulous celebration. :d

:USA Stolz just casually skating a sub 1:07 on the 1.000m at age 17 :yikes:

The previous junior world record was 1:07.76 skated by :JPN Koki Kubo.

This makes Stolz one of the contenders for an Olympic medal.

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
