Um, no they can’t.

With that argument, you could make a case for the majority of summer Olympic sports to be at the winter Olympics.

Where I personally draw the line would be including sports that *can* be played on ice or snow, as long as they actually are played on ice or snow at the Winter Olympics.

So I would be in favour of cross country running or cyclocross as long as a large part of the playing field for both is covered in snow and part of the challenge includes navigating winter conditions. Also why I'm in favour of snow volleyball being considered.

(I'm also a big fan of including ice climbing in the winter Olympics, but I think that's a less controversial idea with regard to it being a "real" winter sport)

those who say that in the future, due to global warming and lack of snow, all sports at the Winter Olympics will have to be held indoors. Do you even think about what you are talking about? The FIS Cross-Country World Cup distances are 20 km skiathlon and 50 km mass start. Is there even a facility in the world that can host 20 and 50 km races? Is it possible? Well, let's imagine that such a facility was built somewhere in Paris and Monaco. Les Rousses spent so much money on building the tracks and infrastructure and then kicked it out of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup because Paris and Monaco, which have more money came to the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Places like Les Rousses would simply go bankrupt trying to popularize the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, do we really need that?

Nobody really says that though, and definitely nobody wants that :p

Fact is, however, that more and more 'traditional' venues will leave the calendar because we as humanity as fucking up the climate.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Never saw this until now, but yeah… no thanks :d (and this is coming from a massive volleyball fan, even para so)

I wouldn’t mind ice climbing, but there’s a couple sports and events (like FreeRide, telemark skiing, and team ski cross) that I’d probably add before.

Not team ski cross

And that's coming from someone who absolutely loves watching the ski cross. Team ski cross just adds nothing at all. Whereas athletics relays make for an entirely different dynamic (a 4x100 is a very much different event than the 100m and results are entirely different than if you'd just add up everyone's 100m times), the team ski/snowboard cross is literally just two team members doing their runs back-to-back with no direct exchange or anything.

Just like the luge team event adds nothing at all :p

Oh I agree, but I think the main reason why I want it on the program is more medal potential :p (Canada has that, while Netherlands does not)

Eh, I actually think the luge team event is the best luge event in terms of TV.

It actually has a lot of room for variance.
