Make me curious about the velodrome of Montichiari. So it was open in 2009 and closed in 2017. Well, ok.

it's not that simple...

it was closed in 2017 because the roof had major damages after a storm (it was raining down inside, just on the track)...

then a fight between the local authorities (owner of the velodrome), the Italian Cycling Federation (those who were using the velodrome) and our NOC (the supervisor of all of our sports federations, the institution where formally the money given to those federations comes from -even if it all starts from the government, making funds available) started because nobody wanted to paid for renovation work...

and since the track was dangerous because of the water coming down on it, a judge decided to put the velodrome under judicial seizure until all the required works were completed...

as usual when the judges are part of the fight here in Italy, it took almost 3 and a half years to find an agreement between all the acting parts and 6 more months to complete the required work on the velodrome, but finally it became available for our NT to train just before the Olympics...

now it should undergo some more renovation work in the coming months, so to be fully available also for some international competitions next Spring (knowing how things work here in Italy, I'm happy if the job is done by the end of the year 2022)...

however, from next year on we should have a full time 250m track indoor velodrome available to our NT to develop some youngsters, hopefully not only in the endurance event...we need to get back to good level also in the sprint event sooner or later...

Ok, guess we can say that Russia was targeting those champs.

    • well, here you have it.   this time is extra especial because this happened at the same night as champion league matches of two main Portuguese football clubs, so was not expecting this cover at all.         and they even made it to the national general newspapers:
    • Yesterday results:  VS  33-21,  team continued their unbeaten record (35 game without losing in WCh since 2017) the game started for  and score reached 10-3 after 15 min, better performance from  team led to closing the gap to 15-12 by half time, the 2nd half had a margin favor for  till minute 40 when the Danish team start scoring 8 consecutive goals without response, 12 minutes until Brazil scored again, during that blackout time  GK Martins did really well but his team mates were not able to break the great wall of Nielsen. hard luck for  and wish they continue such great performance in next tournaments.     VS  31-30, the most improved and best performer so far  (except  for sure) had a great night yesterday. to get the summary of the game,  were playing  GK Wolff who made 21 saves in the game !! 21 !!! I believe at least 17-18 of them were one on one. on the other hand both  GKs did well saving 12 shots (Marques saved 7 while Capdeville saved 5). the game  started with  leading till end of first hal 13-9 ..  in second half ..ah ..sorry ..I will say Wolff not   ...Wolff in 2nd half managed to close the gap and even lead by 2 goals, but Portela and Francisco Costa were able to finish the time draw 26-26. the extra time started with  heading again thanks to :Francisco Costa and  Martim Costa .. Knorr and Zerbe managed to draw for the team Wolff ... but 4 seconds before the end Martim Costa scored the golden goal to secure the first ever  semifinal spot in a well deserved game with huge frustration from Wolff against his team mates.   in 2019  U21 team finished 4th in WCh ( finished 3rd in the same tournament) in the same year  U 19 team finished 4th too in Wch ( won that tournament) now  in the semi final with amazing performance and mix of mostly young players and few experienced.   Semi Final Games:   30th of Jan    VS   31st of Jan    VS
    • I know that. I was just wondering if any users on here have been keeping track of quotas since FIS likely won't make the qualification points list public until spring at the earliest.    And judging by the lack of replies on here, it would seem like the answer is no unsurprisingly
