Thanks, very, very interesting to see the virtual race for Paris laid out like that. Notable with my GBR hat on is that Boulter looks in very good shape, and Burrage is on a bit of a charge, and Norrie is in dreadful trouble. Wonder if Radacanu might be eligible for the Grand Slam champ spot

I think there are potentially much stronger csndidates than Radacanu. However, as a two time Olympic champion as well as a multiple Grand Slam winner, I think Murray has a good insurance policy if he doesn't orherwise qualify and fancies playing on clay again.

Norrie needs to perform well in the first half of next year and take advantage of his much higher ATP ranking in the two remaining GS tournies before the rankings close.

Iga is currently not eligible in Paris because she refused to play in Fed Cup this year. She should play next year to have Paris assured.

She may not play if:

- POL will be in the final in Seville this year - then POL will not play before olympics again,

- she gets injured when POL will play next year before olympics.

This is a very risky situation.

She may get one of 2 legacy champ / grand slam champ places ofc but she may not. Osaka, Wozniacki and some others may be chosen.

So I am really disappointed she chose not to play in Seville.

How is this all Iga/Fed Cup is being played in Poland?

this requirement is pretty stupid tbh and if the Polish Tennis Association is ok with her not participating they can always tell ITF that it was a technical decision, etc. In the end, the tennis association will choose if she's allowed or not. the 2 legacy champs/grand slams are also decided on merits of ranking, so if PTA rules her out, she's out - but i doubt it.

Svitolina said recently in the interview, that she talked about this legacy quoat and was told she would get it if needed.

But she is going to play one more tounament for the national team next year before the Games. So she hopes she will need that legacy quota.

How is Svitolina in this discussion?

Either way, Swiatek or Svitolina won't need the LEgacy quota, they can get it with ranking points easily.

But remember that legacy quota is an addendum to the rankings, so the same rules & conditions apply. The legacy quota is only an "extra" to garantee that someone under 70 or so and up top 400 in the rankings goes to the Olympics.

The "national team conditions" are the same either through direct ranking, Legacy or universality... if she is number 1 or 20 and doesn't get the ranking direct quota she is NOT elegible for the legacy.

It's because Elina also doesn't have a permitted amount of participation in the Billie-Jean Cup, therefore she's also in contention with the Legacy quota or some other issues can be considered.

The Spanish Federation has talked with ITF and they apparently said that there's no problem that Alcaraz hasn't meet the needed Davis Cup conditions and that he could still play the Olympics.

So I guess that high profile players like Iga wouldn't have problems either

    • The NFL are pushing had to develop flag football in Australia in hopes of getting it included in 2032. I hope they fail tbh.   Single gender sports fail the gender equality requirement so netball is out unless they can rapidly fix their gender problem. World Netball not so long ago was refusing utterly to sanction men's international netball or even support the growth of men's netball so they kind of sabotaged themselves and are only changing courses out of self interest because Brisbane was awarded the Olympics.   It doesn't even make sense to propose Aussie rules given how poor the participation is outside of Australia.
    • - Great Britain Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Ski Sports   Alpine Skiing  (4) - The qualification system is a bit confusing, but from what I gather the team is Guaranteed 2 quotas (one for each gender), and then more are given for rankings. I can only see 1 female qualifying, but the men's team is a bit stronger, and could improve with some juniors coming through. I would say a baseline of 3, with a max of 5, 6 if things really improve.  Cross Country Skiing  (3) - The men's team came 11th in the world cup last year, and with some good results could move up to top 10 which would give 3 quotas, The women's team is non existant.  Ski Jumping  (0) - Nope Nordic Combined  (0) - Nope Freestyle Skiing  (6) - Based on last year rankings, the athletes are ranked: M Moguls (26/30), M Ski Cross (26/32), M Halfpipe (33/25), M Slopestyle (39+40/30) W Moguls (23+42/30), W Halfpipe (3/25), W Big Air (5/30), W Slopestyle (19+22/30)  Barring Injury , thats 2 quotas on the women's side, and I would predict 4 more, with a max team of 7 or 8. Snowboarding  (2) - W Halfpipe (34/25) is the only unknown quota, as both Charlotte Bankes and Mia Brookes should qualify easily. Huw Nightlingale may get a spot for the Mixed Team snowboard cross but I don't know how it works. Biathlon  (0) - Nope Ski Mountaineering  (0) - Nope     Skating Sports   Speed Skating  (2) - Cornelius Kersten and Elia Smelding should qualify, although they both haven't competed this year. Short Track Speed Skating  (2) - A team of 5 went to the world but only a couple could really qualify Figure Skating  (4) - Fear and Gibson should qualify, and the pair team is ranked 16th in the world with 19 qualifiers.      Sleigh Sports   Luge  (0) - Nope Skeleton  (6) - A full team is certainly on the cards, but with only ranking points from the next season counting a lot could change Bobsleigh  (6) - Brad Hall and Co should qualify for both 2 and 4 man. I doubt any more will qualify from the mens side. Adele Nicholl on the womens should also qualify in both events     Team Sports   Curling  (12) - Anything but a full team would be a dissapointment Ice Hockey  (0) - The men were the only chance       Total Optimistic Prediction  -  (60) Total Pessimistic Prediction  - (32)   Total Realistic Prediction  -  (47)

    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
