I hope Hosseini is fine. I know he had a history of overreacting and sometimes acting about injuries but this one looked a bit serious. I mean he was down by just 4 with still enough time left. he wouldn't withdraw unless that was serious. still no report about it in Iran Taekwondo federation website and they are usually very fast with updates , and Lee Dae-hoon remains undefeated for one more tournament against Iranians. I lost count how many times he beat our athletes :d

not a bad day. silver and bronze. for Mardani I don't expect anything. even bronze is good for him. the problem with Grand Prix is you can't send whoever you want. only top 32 in ranking can participate. and our #1 athletes at 68 and +80 are not in top 32 at the moment ! and we are losing opportunities for qualifying more than 2 athletes for Tokyo.

Today's three weight classes are now all up to the semi's, right? Any way to see the results? Sadly World Taekwondo's website is not updating them until the end of the day.

still 1 semifinal match to go, but we already know that if it was not for Walkden, today's a true Asian party in Manchester with 5 out of 6 finalists coming from that Continent...

for Italy, our young talent Dell'Aquila surprisingly won his 2nd round bout against the no.2 seed Mikhail Artamonov (and with good margin, about 10 points if I remember correctly), but then he had to surrender to the Iranian Hadipour (and once again with some margin, well over 10 points)...

hopefully with all the points collected in the last couple of tournaments, he's going to improve his seed by next GP event and have a slightly less prohibitive draw...

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
