Summer Olympic Games 2020 Medal Count

Recommended Posts

Wooohoooo.   Although not a good Olympics in our terms.  With unexpected swimming and track losses.    It's still so good to look at the medal table and see us win both golds and totals!!

USA USA USA USA ?? ?? ?? ??

That's just a dream between the 4 medals , 2 golds,  and a whole bunch of amazing results.    Plus the last 2 days with 8 American golds are great!

So who are the big losers?

:KOR , :GER , :UKR …? Maybe Indian shooters?

Yeah, those are the 3 nations I would mention. We had a lot of top nations who started weak but ended strong, multiple disasters avoided in the second week.

Congratulations to China for the 38 gold medals, that's 12 more than in Rio.

Congatulations to Russia too for finishing 3rd in the medal table with 71 medals improving from 4th in Rio.

Finally :champion:Philippines! Our first gold and biggest medal haul ever plus the most successful country from Southeast Asia!!!

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
