Yes, stunning protest from our coaches. Ukraine received a gold and silver after disqualification for Malaysian shot putter due to lateness in call room. Good job 💪

Such a disgrace! They even gave him a DNS like the whole thing never happened

in fact, during the final it was written on the official website that the Malaysian competed under protest. The protest has already been filed

Football 5-a-side semifinals

:CHN vs :ARG

:BRA vs :MAR

Spoiler

Pretty straightforward, this is going to be a south american final. Any other combination would be shocking.

Men's Goalball semifinals

:CHN vs :USA

:LTU vs :BRA

Spoiler

I was almost right about all teams from Group A advancing, but Japan (which was #1) lost to China. I would bet in a final with the two teams from the Americas, but Brazil definitely won't have a easy win vs Lithuania like in group stage (they really found their rhythm in the last couple of matches and are the defending champions after all).

Women's Wheelchair Basketball semifinals

:GER vs :NED

:USA vs :CHN

Spoiler

No surprises here although I expected more from Canada. Final shall be Germany vs China but any combination wouldn't surprise me.

Either way, the whole situation is a little iffy. Fair? If it's the rule, sure. But they shouldn't wait until the end of competition to announce he is disqualified - especially considering that he broke the WR :hairpull:

This gives a bad look for those involved including the ukranian team, even though they protested before the start.

We did everything right - he shouldn't have been in the sector. Late - goodbye, this is the Paralympic Games, no one has to wait for you. Why he was given the opportunity to compete - I do not understand.

And a new lead appeared - on Ukrainian TV they said that he had failed the doping control. We filed a protest not against one of him, but against all three who were late. And voila - they were disqualified. And a Malaysian can even have bingo - doping + being late. Fate returned us a favor for yesterday, when our Yana Lebedeva was not counted 3 attempts in a row

Official statement from Ukrainian Paralympic Comitee :

The page of the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, the Equalympic TV channel, as well as the page of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ukrainian paraathletes were massively attacked by Malaysian citizens with an extremely large number of insults of the national team in connection with the fair protest that Ukraine filed against all athletes - shot putters (F20), who did not get to the first call-room in time today, August 31, at the athletics competitions.

According to paragraph 5.5 of the rules of athletics, if an athlete is late to the first collum at the appointed time, he should not be allowed to compete. Either the athlete is allowed to start under protest, but after the investigation, the technical delegate decides to disqualify the athlete with his result or this result is recorded as official.

Ukraine, together with Greece, immediately protested against 3 athletes from the teams of Malaysia, Ecuador and Australia, who did not get to the first call-room in time, even before the competition - before the start of the shot put. All athletes who protested were warned that all athletes would protest. A decision on the protest will be made later. At the end of the program, the technical delegate announced the official results of the competition, where the results of the protested athletes were annulled.

Ukraine did everything according to the rules of athletics. We are offended to receive a barrage of negativity from Malaysia for actions we have not taken. We appeal to the IPC to pay attention to this glaring incident and to qualify it as a sign of unsportsmanlike conduct of the country participating in the 2020 Paralympics.

Yes, because making an appeal against an athlete - a mental disabled athlete - for the sole reason oh him being late is the true definition of sportsmanship of course. What a complete load of bullshit.

Could they at least have the minimum decency to shut the fuck up ?

The Malaysian authorities have promised a protest. If they win them, I will not be very upset, since we will remain with two medals. And we will have chances to take more gold tomorrow

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
    • c'mon, guys! relax! sciallatevi un po'!    you're making me sick...it's just the season start and this is a sport where only the world championship (and Olympic, in the specific years) medals count   don't get mad for a couple of races held thousend miles away from home after the team had already passed their first climax (the internal selection)...there are still 2 full seasons before the Olympics
    • Super Round Results   21/11    b.   2-0  b.   9-1   22/11    b.   8-2  b.   9-6   nothing is decided yet, all teams still have a thoretical chance to make the Gold Medal match   Tomorrow, the last day of the Super Round sees  facing the  at Noon local time (4 a.m. CET) and  facing  at 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. CET)   the medal games are scheduled for Sunday, BMM at Noon local, GMM at 7 p.m. local
    • very poor performance by the US bullpen both Yesterday and Today    not very impressed by this US team for the entire tournament, also in the Mexican first group (Panama deserved to qualify more than them, but they were lucky with the draw and won the decisive direct matchup)   Venezuela confirmed themselves as a very strong team at bat, but with too many troubles on the mound   Today against Japan they had to make a pitching change already in the 1st inning and basically they had to go for a bullpen game, but it didn't come out like the Dodgers'   Japan always on top of their game, even when the pitching staff doesn't perform at best...frankly, they look more and more unbeatable when no MLB superstar is involved (like in this case), but also when it comes down to the top of the pops it's not that they look worse (see 2023 WBC)  there's a serious risk that their domination becomes even too easy, the gap between them and the rest of the world is widening year after year   Taiwan might look like a surprise, but after the 2023 fail, I was sure they were going to rebound and establish themselves among the top teams in the WBSC tournaments, as they are very good in each and every aspect of the game (batting, pitching...maybe a bit less on defense, but you can't have it all)
