I think it's a metaphor: his heart is broken because he wasn't named to the Olympic team. I understand that. In Fie ranking he is the 5th Italian and apparently the decision was made not to join the team as a reserve. The decision is a bit strange but I trust Cerioni.

Purely on past pedigree and the like, it is probably the right choice for a selector to make, especially given how important medals are to future funding. But obviously the optics etc are not good.

Not a qualifying event, but the GB Diving Championships - basically the Olympic Trials - take place 23-26th May. -

Lol. Good spot. And that one is definitely on them. They had both European champs in aquatics and athletics but I removed them as they probably have limited impact on the Olympic team (whilst obviously being interesting in themselves). -

Thank God Totallympics is back. For a moment with that "domain suspended" page i thought @Sindo 's HQ was being raided by the authorities. -
Funk und Lilik sind auch für das Kanucross nominiert worden. Bei den Männern gibt es eine Ausscheidung auch aufgrund des möglichen dritten Olympiatickets.

Been a pretty dull tennis season for Canadians (not unless you’re a fan of other players like me), but we’re back! Felix Auger-Aliassime with a confidence boosting win at the Madrid Open ATP 1000, defeating Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals! He was on fire throughout the match, tallied 33 winners and 13 unforced errors. Pretty good for only two sets of tennis. Quarterfinals tomorrow against Jannik Sinner, 2-0 H2H in favor of him but the last meeting was at the Cincinnati Masters in 2022. However, he’s been struggling with right hip issues throughout the tournament, so maybe FAA can take advantage of that.

HUGE win for Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Madrid Open (in more ways than one), defeating leader on the ATP tour in matches won Casper Ruud (a known clay-court specialist) 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals 31 wins on the season for Ruud, while Auger-Aliassime has been struggling to find his 2022/2023 form throughout the season (to put it lightly), really surprised to see him not only win it, but win it in straight sets. FAA was on fire during the match though, recording 33 winners and 13 unforced errors (might have to double check) compared to 17 and 7 for Ruud. Hopefully this win can help boost his confidence, and he can show this type of form heading into the rest of the season.

Absolutely insane stuff happened in Espoo the broken Zamboni destroyed the ice after 2nd period resulting in a more than hour delay, the organizers could not fix the ice nor the Zamboni... so after one hour of waiting the 3rd period has been moved to the near Training rink, resulting in another almost half hour delay to bringing the TV cameras In othe side Great game for the young Pobežal who scored a nice hattrick to very likely qualify us to the quarters aka maintain us in the top division (We needed to win by 3 goals and it like we can do it)
