Well, It is not all over. The IIHF size rink was always kinda advantage for Euro teams in the opening games against CAN & USA when coming with international hockey inexperienced rosters. that was always the same, + this year CAN did not played any exhibition game on such rink so yeah the covid pandemic also did not help you at all, but even if this roster is arguably very week (in comparison of what CAN can obviously field) they are sill some great level players and once they will be used to this size rink and conditions they may still be medal threats. Remember the tournament is still very long, this was only 1st game. Latvia played great match though + the fact no spectators were allowed helped them to not fall under some extra pressure, but in other hand maybe the opposite I believe would also work on their side, the young Canadians are not used to play in front of such fanatic fans jumping and shouting with drums the whole match
