  2. and it started. The nominational General Assembly. They also invited the ambassador in the country sitting next to skeet shooter Danka Barteková (nominated by IOC for full IOC membership, her eventual election is schedulled before the games) Our final roster to come in a couple of minutes, stay tuned
  3. Also pity there no multiple-options choices in this poll, because I would pick in 2nd Lillehammer 1994, what a great games it was, with fantastic atmosphere, great sport moments and first ever for 1 year after the split-up of TCH (Also the first ever SVK ice Hockey international major tournament as independent country) Unforgetable moments with Peter Šťastný returning from deflection in Canada and finally playing before his retirement as captain of his nation the first moments when the whole new country began to feel proud
  4. Barring Covid and Injuries disaster it should be as often, anything between Zero and Three. It is not a secret that all our hopes this time are only and only on the shoulders of one certain Alpine Skier, a sport in which we never won a Olympic medal before. If everything works well, she should be able to bring a medal home, but it may also end in another disappointement just like 4 years ago... well, let´s hope for the best this time and at least one medal, no matter of which color, any single medal would be already huge for us.
  5. In hopeless faith for also a minimalist Bach and the OC president speeches
  6. and we have also the first results of the census 5 449 270 inhabitants (95.8 % were born in Slovakia) 83.8% of the population stated Slovak nationality The highest minority in the country is with 7.75% of the population, no surprise, the Hungarian minority, more of 80 % of them living in the southern districts, 1.23% the Roma minority, 0.44% the Ruthenian (Rusyns), 0.17% the Ukrainian and 0.53% the Czech minorities. Only 0.16% of inhabitants signaled another different nationality. Most, up to 55.8% of people, mentioned the Roman Catholic religion in the Slovak Republic (3.04 million of people). The number of Catholics has however declined. In 2011, 62% subscribed to the Roman Catholic faith, now it is only 56% of the population. The second most numerous group are citizens without religion (23.8%), resp. 1.3 million. The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Slovakia was mentioned by 5% of permanent residents and the Greek Catholic faith by 4%. For the first time there were people mentioning also Pastafarianism (The Flying Spaghetti Monster) had no idea what it is until I googled it ...wtf Slovak language is the main language of almost 82% of the Slovak population, namely 4,456,102 people. The second most numerous is Hungarian (8.5%, 462,175 people). Romani is the first language of 1.8 percent of the people (100,526). Other languages account for less than one percent. Ruthenian (Rusyn) is the fourth most numerous language (0.7%), the fifth most numerous is Czech (0.6%). Other languages in Slovakia include Ukrainian, Russian, English, German, Polish and Vietnamese. 1835 inhabitants mentioned the sign language Slovak as their first language.

  14. Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its bobsled time ! Cool Runnings!
  15. wait, there no corridors between the sheet ?
  16. Oni to tak väčšinou robia, po olympiáde začnú s predajom pre verejnosť.
  17. Ona je na predaj ? Jasne, ak sa to dá, nemám problem.
  18. Well, honestly, this was expected. Still very sad obviously, but expected, her participation was basically impossible, even if by some miracle she would travel to Beijing after that horrible injury, without training/adequate preparation, I fear she would hardly be able to compete with her rivals. It is better for her to skip this, recover completely and will be back on the podium in Milano/Cortina.
  19. yeah expected. Was a bit too much optimistic from the Czechs to put Samková in the nomination
  20. where do you have that from ? it doesn't look very accurate nor realistic Nemec will be in top 10 but not so high definitely Shane Wright will be #1 pick and Savoie + Kemell will fight for the other top 3 spots. From SVK view Slaf will be higher than Nemec, I expect maybe a Top 5 from him, hopefully some great ice time and good Olympics will help him Btw the 2023 Draft looks to be even more interesting for us. Dalibor Dvorský may very well beat the Slovak national best of Gáborík on 2000 draft
  21. Surely because it is not the final roster, they have to cut 5 players. It is expected they will anounce their final roster on the weekend
  22. Any stamp collector over there ? Slovak Mail released new stamps collection in honor of the Olympic and Paralympic games.
