  1. Article 2 - Obstructing Congress has now also been passed!!! Democratic/Independent members of House voted to impeach, all Republicans (plus 3 Democrats) voted to acquit. What a great day for the United States of America. The United States Senate will not vote to impeach, which will create a small Constitutional Crisis next year, but Trump will remain president most likely. Also of note Tulsi Gabbard essentially abstaining from both votes. The three democrats who voted against were from New Jersey, Minnesota, and Maine (state that will be key in next years election, and states where political affiliations can swing from year to year).
  2. US House or Representatives finds Trump guilty of 1st article of impeachment (Abuse of Power)!!! Viva Democracy!
  3. If it’s any consolation @Fly_like_a_don for missing the 2020 YOG, they did send a few skiers here. However, it wouldn’t say their results were noteworthy for a good reason. It’s still good to see them amongst the results though.
  4. Odds of a medal are slim to none I’d say, but you never know... Bronze might be doable.
  5. Yeah but then you actually need 5 in case of injury
  6. beats 18-0 in Ice Hockey
  7. @Vojthas Poland pulled off what can only be described as a miracle, and found themselves advancing to the semifinals tomorrow. Here’s a video of the moment they found out they advanced, and their celebration:
  8. What fillings did you end up going with?
  9. Team USA!!! : https://www.teamusa.org/Lausanne-2020-Winter-Youth-Olympic-Games/Meet-Team-USA/Roster 96
  10. Thousands turned out for pro-impeachment rallies tonight. I would have gone, but who the hell schedules a protest on Tuesday night? Turnout would have been much better on Saturday and Sunday.
  11. got a freestyle skiing quota taken away, not rejected, put back on the reallocation list, so no idea what happened or how that’s legal. That’s honestly a first for me right there.
  12. has now rejected 1 male alpine skier.
  13. I mean I get the whole Turkey is our ally thing (though Erdogan is clearly in bed with Putin at the moment), but at some point with have to our values first. It’s true that we have bases and nukes in Turkey, but it’s not worth in my opinion. The only way it’s worth, is if they give up Turkish Cyprus, and then I could at least feel like we did something useful in the area. I’d much rather prefer to support Cyprus and Greece personally (and then make good friends with the likes of UAE, Jordan, Lebanon) over Turkey.
  14. Trump vetos our recognition of the Armenian Genocide . He didn’t want to offend Turkey ?. We should honestly just back Greece and Cyprus at this point. Not a huge fan of modern Turkey myself. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/trump-sides-with-turkey-blocks-congress-recognizing-armenian-genocide-2019-12
  15. I have no clue what the plans are, as it is still just under 9 years away (!), but I trust the LA2028 OC.
  16. It’s already slated to host the opening ceremonies in 2028. LA wants to be the first city to have two stadium hosting the opening ceremonies at the same time.
  17. New Biathlon/Cross Country Skiing Center I’m working on :
  18. Yeah The Forum still hosts concerts rather regularly. There’s also big Venues of that caliber in Ontario, Anaheim, Irvine, Long Beach (The Pyramid ), and UCLA. We also have the Stub Hub Center where the Galaxy play, and the new stadium where LAFC play. There’s also the USC Arena that will host badminton in 2028.
  19. We could use something like The Forum, Dolby Theatre, or any assortment of college stadiums. Anaheim is pippin’ right now by the way. That’s where the sports and arts scene is in LA right now. They been hosting more and more international sports. The convention center there is very nice. They also have a 10,000-15,000 seat indoor arena there too. We clearly do need the additional multi-sports games, but I want them .
  20. True, but they’d serve as good test events, and were not really losing money to host them. Tickets would still sellout and people would still be interested. There’s 15 million within 3 hours of city, there is bound to be enough interest. The only thing to compete with in the summer is baseball. The Angles won’t be problem because they’ll be ass like every year (they’d probably already be like 30-60 by the time the games roll around), and Dodgers will throw it away in the playoffs anyways . So not much to compete with.
  21. Really don’t understand why LA just doesn’t throw in a bid. If it were up to me, we host 2026 YOG, 2027 PanAm, 2028 Olympics/Paralympics.
  22. So this means qualifies then?
  23. In the US we have: US Ski & Snowboard, USA Biathlon, US Figure Skating Association, US Speed Skating, US Bobsleigh and Skeleton, USA Luge, US Hockey, USA Curling, USA Mountaineering and Ice Climbing, and USA All Terrain Skating. All those are separate federations responsible for their sport(s) only.
  24. Well technically bobsleigh has a Skeleton athlete. I don’t think there’s even any Ski Jumping hills in Spain...?
