  1. Kinda like the Hungarian fans who held up anti-LGBT+ signs during their first match of the tournament…
  2. Road To Tokyo 2020 Team Announcement It’s official! The United States Virgin Islands has announced it’s team for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games! The US Virgin Islands plans to send 4 athletes to Tokyo for the Olympic Games. The athletes will represent the USVI in the sports of Archery, Athletics, and Aquatics. Archery Nicholas D’Amour - Currently the 9th ranked archer in the world rankings, D’Amour will make his debut in Tokyo after being awarded a universality quota. He will be the first ever archer to represent the US Virgin Islands at the Olympic Games. Athletics Eddie Lovett - What’s better than participating in one Olympics, participating in two. Lovett returns to Olympics once more as a representative of the US Virgin Islands. He will compete in the men’s 110m hurdles after receiving a universality quota. Aquatics - Swimming Natalia Kuipers - She holds the national record in the 400m freestyle, and will make her debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. She qualified for the Olympics via a universality quota. Adriel Sanes - Another athlete making his debut at the Olympic Games, he too has shown his prowess in the pool. He has already achieved the OST in the men’s 200m breaststroke and will awarded an invitation or universality quota. Team photo courtesy of the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee.
  3. It looks like is the only country who qualified a diver for the semifinals, but did not get allocated any quota. Essentially every other country at least got one diver in, but Norway missed out completely.
  4. Universality update - Men’s 100m - ( as well most likely) Men’s 200m - Men’s 400m - Men’s 800m - Men’s 1500m - Men’s 5000m - Men’s 10000m - None Men’s 110m H - Men’s 400m H - Men’s 3000m Steeplechase - None Men’s High Jump - None Men’s Pole Vault - None Men’s Long Jump - Men’s Triple Jump - None Men’s Shot Put - None Men’s Discus Throw - None Men’s Hammer Throw - Men’s Javelin Throw - None Men’s Marathon - Men’s 20km Race Walk - None Men’s 50km Race Walk - None Men’s Decathlon - None Some nations are still missing, so I’d say universality allocation is an ongoing process still.
  5. Universality update - Women’s 100m - Women’s 200m - Women’s 400m - Women’s 800m - Women’s 1500m - None Women’s 5000m - Women’s 10000m - None Women’s 100m H - Women’s 400m H - Women’s 3000m Steeplechase - None Women’s High Jump - None Women’s Pole Vault - None Women’s Long Jump - Women’s Triple Jump - None Women’s Shot Put - None Women’s Discus Throw - Women’s Hammer Throw - None Women’s Javelin - None Women’s Marathon - ( was removed, not sure if that’s a glitch or not) Women’s 20km Race Walk - None Women’s Heptathlon - None
  6. Before the recent uproar surrounding the reallocation of some quotas, I probably would have gone with archery. In general, World Archery generally has one of the better qualification systems in my opinion. I think I’ll go ahead and put my vote on Sport Climbing. Overall, I thought that qualification system was pretty solid considering all of the controversy surrounding the combined event. It created an entertaining series of qualification events as well.
  7. Came across this article about Liberia’s uniforms, though there’s not much in the way of photos yet.
  8. Final allocation of quotas confirmed. Men’s Kata - (tripartite) Women’s Kata - (tripartite) Men’s Kata - (reallocation) Women’s -61kg - (reallocation) Source: https://www.wkf.net/news-center-new/last-olympians-for-karate-confirmed/1601
  9. Yay! First quota for ! I can finally update the National Thread It’s unfortunate that D’Amour couldn’t get a quota through merit, but he is arguably the best USVI athlete at the moment (in my opinion), so I’m glad that he’ll get a chance to represent the USVI at the Olympic Games.
  10. didn’t appear in the live timing, and still didn’t when I checked the link. There must of have been some sort of timing error.
  11. I think qualified via host quota reallocation, so continental would go to
  12. At that point, it’d be better to just take the 6 runner-ups from the continental tournaments and the two best non-qualified world tour teams.
