Another entertaining slalom race! It just keeps delivering in the way only maybe men’s downhill can compare. Noel falling, but rescuing that 30th place (eventhough skiers after bib40 had horrid conditions so some talented skiers didn’t stand a chance) and climbing to 4th, similar to Kristoffersen a few weeks ago. Then Blacky going out for the 3rd time when leading the race after the first run. He’s never finished a run when in the lead. Kristoffersen falling and winning, the streaker. You saw Vinatzer coming in 3rd before he even started celebrating so his prolonged celebration made it funny yet so awkward at the same time. This slalom January was so great, I’m sad it’s already over.

Wow Alice! I knew she was going to be good when she was killing everyone in continental cup at the age of 15, but no idea she’s going to be this good this fast! Incredible and her technique is so smooth. 60th win for Mika! And 4 globes this season, it’s hard to realize how good her season was in this moment, but hopefully she continues this form for a couple of years. I like how she’s learning from Maze not to go for too much, but I still feel she’s going to burnout faster than people expect.

After Hargin officially retired this week, Costazza and Fanara raced their final race today, both finished with DNF.

They are using the slalom start list, but perhaps it’d be more useful to use the ranking of the previous let’s say 5 parallel races. It’s stupid anyway to let top16 perform. Make a qualifying run or don’t exclude lower ranked players that would excel in this.

With Hargin now far from a top30 bib in slalom, I have a feeling we might have just seen his last race. With the way his results have been going, I don’t think he’ll be too eager to start with a 40+ bib. And with Myhrer also saying this could be his last race, the Swedes have basically no one left now, except Jakobsen who can’t finish a race. Khoroshilov finally back in top30, so his string of bad start numbers finally ends.

Congrats to Vlhova, the bottom part from her was amazing. But I’m not sure what was going on with Mikaela, her first run seemed so passive, she seemed not to attack the course at all and her behaviour was a bit strange after Mowinckel got to the finish, securing Mikaela a medal, she just looked completely exhausted. Hope there’s not any injury and it was just a bad day, really want her to win 4th consecutive slalom world champs.

I think Holdener will take it considering her DH is a bit more solid than Vlhova’s unless mistakes happen.

I don’t think limiting Maze’s SG skills to “just 1 SG win” is quite fair when she has 17 podiums in the event and 39 top10 results. It was just a win that kept avoiding her and I think she had a record number of 4th places in the event as well iirc

Ladies’ slalom is in such a bad state at the moment. You have 6-8 skiers that look very good and then others that struggle on every course no matter how easy it is. To have skiers with bib 8-15 being 3+ seconds behind is just sad. Shame, because the top5 quality is very good.
