  1. Correct I'm actually a chemist, although sadly unemployed
  2. Here is an upload on what I was able to follow in terms of Olympic Qualification. As usual, this is pure theory and just for fun: - a total of 182 quotas have already been achieved, considering 1 quota per athlete. If we look for multiple quotas, this number reaches 255. - among the athletes with multiple quotas, Hosszu has 4, Quadarella, Detti Flickinger Sjostrom 3. Many have 2 (this data include partial data coming from Russian and Australian Championships that are currently in progress) - in terms of quotas earned per nation, the current podium us with 27, 25 and 23 quotas respectively. However, and especially are increasingly sharply with good results in their championships, and will host from today to sunday another meet of TYR series, meaning that new quotas will be likely to be achieved; - in terms of absolute number of standards reached, that is considering multiple quotas per athlete, the podium standings is exactly the same, with peaking it with 36 quotas, followed by 34 for and 31 for - a total of 29 nations have already obtained at least 1 quota by achieving 1 minimum A standard. Among them, it is worth underlining the presence of in women's 1500m and in women's 100m fly; - among men's events, breastroke appears as the one in which it is easier to achieve an A standard, with both events counting 16 athletes qualified each; - Looking at women's events, instead, at the moment the most crowded event appears to be women's 1500m free, with 17 athletes qualified (and, surprisingly, without any swimmer already qualified). - looking at B standards achieved, a special mention goes to which reached 2 B standards in 200m free and 200m medley (both in men's events) and (200m fly in men's event); - as a personal feeling, I think other quotas could have been earned at Kazakistan national championships but I was not able to find any result. I also missed last day in Netanya Cup in Israel (or, better, I really cannot understand their language).
  3. I really hope to see in the next stage Marongiu, Grazini and Fabbrizi.
  4. It really looks like we don’t want to qualify to olympics in men’s trap.
  5. I would check if there is any mad man/woman willing to take part to a 800 medley :D however, I have an idea for (mixed) relay, that is making every swimmer swim a 200 medley. This could give sense to a mixed relay, otherwise it really has no sense even for me that I like some mixed events.
  6. Just wait for big events to come, (World Championships) and use that data
  7. At this moment, if my calculations are correct, considering the results of qualifying events in swimming and athletics, China has more athlete than USA . I wonder how much this will last, because I think it in the end USA will be on top of the team size, although the fact that being Japan the host may in some way help China to have more chances for qualification.
  8. Looks like it is a good news for EU, finally...
  9. @hckosice well it is quite nice :D
  10. You should also count qualifying events to 2019 World Championships, where HungarianChampionships are, so they actually count. Obviously I think Hungary is a relatively big nation in swimming, so probably they will actually use other ways to devi e qualified athletes
  11. As far as I know, no. But if the result appears in the next days (typically on Wednesday) on IAAF ranking with proper filters, it is considered as a valid result and hence it is a minimum A standard
  12. an Italian national journal (la Repubblica) reported that AIBA's head has resigned and this may indicate that boxing will eventually be included in Tokyo
  13. This is everything I have about it Swim_Events.xlsx
  14. As usual, can you tell me where can I find the results of the meeting? Thanks
  15. Yesterday I found a job announcement for a Ph. D. position in Amsterdam saying that position will be advertised until filled. I was just thinking to apply today, and the job disappeared.
  16. Ok, so I missed a mistake from Fabbrizi
  17. I stopped “watching” after Fabbrizi was eliminated, but I did not get why he was. If I remember well, the Chinese athlete should have been eliminated in case of tie due to qualification results. Did I miss something?
  18. Trials in USA are only for track events or even for field ones?
  19. FINA has published a list of meetings where it is possible to achieve A standards. I have been checking all those indicated and Campbell sisters were not taking part. Obviously it may be that I missed a meeting. As regards the young French, here it is: https://www.liveffn.com/cgi-bin/resultats.php?competition=59271&langue=fra&go=detail&action=participant&iuf=1724832 However she took part in 200 breast, not 50 free
  20. Do you know about any live stream?
  21. There is also a very young French athlete that has actually achieved a B standard, but I don’t think she will be able to compete as she will be 15 next year
  22. According to Fina rules is also important where you swim it. However this is just an overview as, especially for best nations, real selection will be harder and later
  23. From the last update, some meetings occurred, including national championships in and , youth championships in , several minor meetings and three more important in and . Some new nations were able to establish minimum A, specifically as reported @dcro, but also , and , all of them earning 1 minimum A in different events. Notably, was able to earn 3 new spots with 3 different athletes. This week, for the first time in my report, other nations established at least 1 minimum B. They are and In women's events, only 50m is without any "qualified" athlete, and only 5 nations established a minimum B in this event. As regards men, instead, 5 events (100 m free, 400m free, 200 m fly and 200 & 400 medley) are without qualified athletes.
  24. it looks like ISSF is not giving live results, sadly
  25. it should, as National Championships are counted towards IAAF rankings (and hence as valid competitions for achieving minimum A)
