  1. And a region-by-region list here, including all the updates (with either official or reliable sources mentioned), especially handy if those maps aren't working well on phones https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/01/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/
  2. Out of pure interest: why are there voting ballots in Burmese and Khmer? Isn't voting for citizens, who - one can assume - are supposed to speak or at the very least understand the language of the nation they're a citizen of? Say war breaks out here and I'd be forced to flee to Uzbekistan, I wouldn't dare think I can become a citizen without speaking the language or vote without being a citizen..
  3. Yeah, only seven Americans have ever gone under 6:20; besides of course Shani Davis and über-American Chad Hedrick those were Derek Parra in 2002, Emery Lehman, Brian Hansen en Trevor Marsicano in the past 11 years and Jonathan Kuck of all places who joins Hedrick as only one to ever go under 6:10 when he had his weird super season for one month or something. Too bad KC Boutiette never made it past his 6:22 in the SLC Olympics. The 10k is a little sadder, with only four guys ever going under 13:20 (Hedrick, Davis, Hansen and Kuck).
  4. That would be sad. Do all those boats with 2 and 4 people and lighter people and whatnot have that much more meaning than the flagship of rowing?
  5. In case anyone cares There's a handful of decent names competing, but it's nothing big.
  6. But at some point you're at a level where improving every year is not 'normal' anymore...like when you're jumping 2.02m as an U20 woman
  7. RIP bus driver
  8. And every cycling fan in the Netherlands is not sceptical at all about Van Vleuten going to El Teide all the time
  9. And when you want to dope, you go to places where there's the smallest chance of testers getting to you (while still being able to train, so Antarctica doesn't count). This is generally in places like remote African towns and mountains, or the infamous Teide on Tenerife.
  10. "Spain has long been an attractive place to train for athletes." No shit Especially the islands and somewhere on a volcano or something were testers rarely come. Why else do you think there's also a ton of athletes training in remote African places? Because "the conditions are harsher and so it's good to make you tougher"?
  11. Clarey topping the first training in Garmisch, I'm just going to get my hopes up again anyway because why not Allez Johan http://live.fis-ski.com/lv-al0098.htm#/ranking
  12. The course looks truly, insanely boring. I can't understand how they awarded it to a place like this, ugh. Anyway, apparently the weather is rather shitty, which in terms of cyclo-cross means the weather is great Hopefully that can help in making it interesting.
  13. Dead-last place in qualifying for Kasai in Sapporo I can't wait for his 36th youth to start.
  14. Today's training at Rosa Khutor has been moved to tomorrow morning (08:00 CET), with the race planned for 10:30 CET and the super-G still as scheduled on Sunday. Doesn't look good, but at least they're not giving up yet.
  15. I'm in an affected nation and not complaining about this, does that count to make up for one complaint?
  16. Yeah, most female athletes would focus on the Olympics and like anyone who doesn't think it's the right time for a child (yet) use birth control. In the rare case where that doesn't work, I really, really don't think a majority would almost literally throw away their future child. Going all "well most Europeans and Americans would just do that" borders on the insane. Then again, we know it was coming from someone who is generally posting not much else than how much everything is always the fault of every other part of the world except his (more specially, the big bad West), we're probably giving it way too much 'credibility' by even responding like this. Sorry.
  17. Wonderful, of all people Katerina Razymova - this season's World Cup distance sensation basically - has to be in Nove Mesto as well for the Czech Cup races Well it will be an interesting measure
  18. "Most elite female athletes from the US and Europe would be ringing up their abortionist"? Lol, no. 1) They generally don't have 'their abortionist' 2) Most elite female athletes who are in her position in the athletic sense would be using birth control 3) I'm fairly sure, but this is an assumption, most elite female athletes with who birth control didn't work would sit out the Olympics instead of thinking "oh ok, abortion!". I mean, we can have nonsense discussions all day long, but saying most in her position would just go for an abortion is just borderline bullshit.
  19. Oh they definitely should have separate threads, no problem, I just meant it was useless for me to try and find the right one
  20. Sure, you can say that (as long as you understand it's most likely not true).
  21. Two Chinese people on board a cruise ship close to Italy have contracted a high fever and now 6000 people have to stay on board for now. Uh oh.
  22. God knows where the right thread is in between the millon age groups AND divisions AND groups in which I'm totally lost, so I'll just drop this here https://www.iihf.com/en/news/17813/tournament-in-china-to-be-relocated
  23. Which means they don't count as infected (yet) Official numbers, for what they're worth, are most likely passing through 8k today.
