  1. Yuka Ando has apparently been doing it for years and found it to be the most effective way for her Sadly we don't see it as much in the 5k and 10k anymore now, a few years ago they all did that
  2. Japanese 'arms tight along to the body' running style
  3. Yes, so there it is more a matter of timing it than responding. I'm never gonna be in favor of a system where you can legitimatelly start after the beep/gun/whatever, but still get considered a false start
  4. From not wanting to be alive anymore (after Olympic gold and all the pressure that came with it) to world champion 9 years later, phenom
  5. Yeah, for the 4x100m it's more of a problem to have it like this. I also don't really mind what exactly the order is, as long as it's a fixed one in which everyone has the same. I also like what I believe they have in biathlon: one week it's MMWW, the next week it's WWMM, so it's not like countries with a superbly finishing man or woman always have an advantage (which is of course more relevant in biathlon than in a 4x400, but still, it's also just fair to give both men and women chances to finish the race and have a shot at that big final 'glory').
  6. That's at least better than 0.1, since yes, there are people who can react faster than that. I'm still in favour of the most honest system though: if you do not leave before the gun goes, your start is valid, no matter if it's 1 second after the gun or 0,001 seconds after the gun - after the gun is after the gun. And yes, people are going to take extra risks then, that's up to them.
  7. Definitely the 3x Fabbri or Battocletti, since I'd much rather see my favourite country being strong in a variety of events than having one single superstar. Which is not in any way negative towards Duplantis, obviously, but if these are the two options, that's the choice I'd make
  8. At least after the first few events where they had it (junior worlds and such), they understood - unlike in swimming - that you should at least have a fixed M/W order...whatever one's opinion on this event, it is at least not difficult to follow (unlike, again, certain mixed swimming relays).
  9. Silver for and bronze for the Belgian Waffles
  10. Nah, there is no sexual offender Isaya Klein Ikkink this time (although his replacement might actually be faster nowadays)
  11. Also without a doubt going to end up one of the most awesome surprising medals of these entire championships
  12. Muñoooooooooooz
  13. Crouser
  14. Chebet Also a well deserved for Battocletti obviously!
  15. Jesus, did you find the pessimist juice again?
  16. I agree, mainly I hope this is another small step to deleting this whole nonsense 0,1 second rule.
  17. with a surprising win
  18. Normally I'd be inclined to agree (as you know ) , but with this whole thing already being under discussion and it now being 0,001 seconds, I'm not sure a different flag would have had a different result.
  19. At least this gives me some extra time to go get myself a T'Snickers.
  20. Ouch, 0,001 seconds too fast for McCallum. If he was 0,001 seconds slower, it was perfectly humanly possible, now it's clearly an impossible reaction.
  21. Didn't see him standing at the blocks yet Edit: never mind, not missing anymore 😈
  22. Iapichino
  23. "Back to Live Overview" Sigh.... World Athletics, get your stuff in order.
  24. I remember the whole Zharnel Hughes thing, it was so unfortunate he had no choice but to switch to
  25. Yep. Luckily at least they can compete for themselves though.
