  1. Polling and Verkerk (70 and 78) are our biggest chances, followed by the men Grol, Meyer and Van 't End
  2. Wales Goodbye annoyingly bad-mooded Belgians
  3. Wales sort of getting screwed by the referee...three yellow cards for small fouls, while Hazard gets away with nothing after literally throwing the ball away with his hands.
  4. Possible I'm going for either 2 or 3 Russian judo medals in Rio by the way, one more than our team
  5. This was announced yesterday? Cool, Wikipedia was already right one week ago then
  6. Markus Rehm won't compete at the Olympics, which is now finally certain: http://www.iaaf.org/news/press-release/gracia-rehm Probably for the best. I hope he defends his Paralympic gold
  7. Oops, got drawn to the wrong thread, but here goes, Kenyan Olympic trials are over: Main things are of course in the middle-to-long distances: Women's 800m: Wambui beats Sum and will likely battle it out with Semenya and Niyonsaba for the medals in Rio. Women's 5k: Apparently Obiri has really made the move from 1500m to 5k now, with success. Women's 10k: Aprot didn't run in the trials, but got a wild card thanks to her solo 30:26 in Durban last week. Men's 800m: Kipketer ( ) for basically the first time ever showed a good tactical race and won ahead of Rotich, while Rudisha surprisingly had to give it everything in the last meters to get the third and final spot... (while in the semi's he was still clearly the best) Men's 1500m: No Silas Kiplagat, did I miss him falling back in form or something? Men's 3000m steeple: Birech surprisingly didn't even finish the race, while Kemboi will go for his umpteenth major gold joined by the two Kipruto's.
  8. And to actually get back on the topic of athletics instead of personal stuff, Kenyan trials are over: Main things are of course in the middle-to-long distances: Women's 800m: Wambui beats Sum and will likely battle it out with Semenya and Niyonsaba for the medals in Rio. Women's 5k: Apparently Obiri has really made the move from 1500m to 5k now, with success. 9. Based on this year: Conseslus Kipruto is extremely strong. Based on the rest: Kemboi is always at his very best in championships. Time and time again he has shown that he is the main athlete to beat, even when he didn't look that strong in previous races. So if I have to guess, I'm going for Kemboi.
  10. I don't know yet...Kenyan media is being slow, I only got the men's steeple team with some luck on Twitter..
  11. Jairus Birech fails to qualify Kenya's men's steeple team consists of young Kipruto, old Kipruto (Conseslus and Brimin) and unbeatable Ezekiel Kemboi. What a team
  12. The Dutch women's team has been selected. GK Jasmina Jankovic is finally fit again, which leads to a very sad situation: GK Marieke van der Wal has been an important part of the team since 2000 (!), but now that the Netherlands finally qualified for the Olympics, she'll miss it because Jankovic is chosen ahead of her The team: Jasmina Janković - TuS Metzingen Tess Wester - SG BBM Bietigheim Ailly Luciano - Metz Handball Laura van der Heijden - Team Esbjerg Jessy Kramer - Toulon Saint Cyr Var Handball Nycke Groot - Győri Audi ETO KC Estavana Polman - Team Esbjerg Yvette Broch - Győri Audi ETO KC Danick Snelder - Ferencvárosi TC Martine Smeets - SG BBM Bietigheim Michelle Goos - Succes Schoonmaak/VOC Amsterdam Angela Malestein - SG BBM Bietigheim Kelly Dulfer - VfL Oldenburg Sanne van Olphen - Toulon Saint Cyr Var Handball Lois Abbingh - Issy Paris Hand Reserves: Marieke van der Wal - HV Virto/Quintus Debbie Bont - København Håndbold Lynn Knippenborg – Buxtehuder SV Esther Schop - Nantes Loire Atlantique Isabelle Jongenelen - Nantes Loire Atlantique Sanne Hoekstra - HSG Bensheim Auerbach
  13. No way she will compete under the Russian flag. Russians have already made very clear that they will absolutely not have her in the team.
  14. Yeah, except for the high prices I meant But honestly I can hardly think of more beautiful countries in Europe...maybe Norway (though that's not exactly cheap neither )
  15. I see absolutely nothing wrong with moving to Switzerland then
  16. Wow, Josh Prenot only misses the 200 breast WR by less than two tenths of a second
  17. Who knows, with a bit of luck we might see a Moura/Neres/Firmino/Martins mixed relay at the highest level in 5-6 years I'm sure the girls can reach that level, of course it's hard to say about the guys for now I'm guessing they have arrived around now (they would land in Neuquen around midnight and still had a trip to the actual biathlon site to go, arriving in the middle of the night must be great preparation..). Hopefully there'll be decent internet down there, because I really can't wait to hear about the shooting results they'll have while training with Swedish B-coach Tobias Torgersen there. Keep in mind, they basically don't ever shoot in Brazil, although Bruna has been trying to gain access to the shooting range where her coach (Leandro Ribela) shoots/shot But of course I'm especially curious to see how the guys will do in their first shooting ever!
  18. At least if Portugal goes through to the finals, I hope they will at least have won one match within 90 matches during this tournament
  19. Renato Sanches, if I'm not mistaken we should remember this name and so I guess we should remember this as well, his first real moment of glory
