'Formule 1' kind of start tomorrow: the top-20 starts on the front row, and the rest follows in order of the GC standings. Tom Dumoulin is expecting that to mean....absolutely nothing: "None of us, main GC candidates, will want to go hard from the first kilometer, so probably we'll just ride the first few kilometers rather slowly so the rest can catch up" Of course it's still something very different and I am very much looking forward to this potentially highly explosive stage

You might be confusing the 4x400m (which I was talking about) with the 4x100m (which Mayer, Pinto and 42.3-42.4 seem to suggest you are talking about) The Dutch are still in the 4x100m, where I'm holding on to some glimmer of hope Switzerland might be able to pull off a bit of an upset and take the gold (I know they're not number one favourites, but one can hope). Or Kambundji for individual gold, I'd be content with that as well.

I believe it was a bit further away (that's what the Dutch commentators said, Casartelli died near the bottom of the descent), but yeah, it was the same descent, which is mentioned here every time they are on the Portet d'Aspet.

No Dutch women'x 4x400m at the European championships. In the current shape they might have shown something nice, but due to the incredibly strange programming the federation decided it would be too much of a risk for the athletes. On 11 August the women's individual 400m final will be at 20.05.....and at 21.50 it's the final of the women's 4x400m I truly wonder which idiot thought that would be a good idea.

So the farmers attacked the peloton by throwing stuff on the road to block them (potentially life threatening, luckily nothing happened there), followed by the police using pepperspray to those attacking farmers (before, hopefully, arresting them) and that got in the eyes of several riders.

Apparently some protesting French farmers did it....that's not the first time they pulled something like this, but this is definitely the worst I've seen.
