Only for those placed 9th and below. For example, had only 6 NOC’s advanced to quarterfinals in men’s, then right now eligible eightfinal losers will be shooting for the last spot.

Nope 7 NOCs advanced to quarterfinals in Men's. Only UKR was there twice, all others had only 1 archer each. I checked it, there will be a separate tournament after Women's Gold medal match.

  2. A lot of sports have bad qualification process but I think Weightlifting is among the worst. Only 4 per gender per NOC, complicated process, additional restrictions due to doping, very lengthy qualification timeline not giving much chance for youngsters and/or athletes with injury. I am sure other users would be able to list other problems as well.

But, on the plus side, this time around atleast we didn't have athletes lifting less than their bodyweight qualifying for Olympics.

    Men Hockey Gold for INDIA

    My wish list:

    1) Hockey Men's medal

    2) Mirabai somehow winning Gold

    3) Elavenil winning medal (She is a fellow Amdavadi :p)

    4) Neeraj getting our first ever Athletics medal.

    5) Sindhu becoming our most decorated Olympian (except Hockey)

    6) Vinesh Phogat getting a Olympic medal for the phenomenal Phogat family

    7) Overall getting 2 Golds and 10 medals.

India looking to get the team quota in Women's Archery today. India tops the qualification round and hope they get the quota later in the day.

They have shot only 24 arrows out of 72 per archer till now.

This seems to be a good opportunity for me to make a "Hungarian medal chances per day" post, I wanted to do this anyway at some point. I am only mentioning events where a medal wouldn't be surprising (in my opinion). Probably my most "controversial" decision is that I am leaving women's 200m IM off, I think it would be surprising if Hosszú wins a medal in that event.

there will be 6 quotas put back into play?

8 in total: 1 original + 3 (USA, Indonesia, France) + North Korea + reallocation due to European Games and NZL returning quota + Oceanian Qualification reallocation.

For Women, it will be 3-6. 1 original + North Korea + Oceanian Qualification reallocation + 0-3 depending on team qualification.
