  1. Unless I have a mistake somewhere, the odds of that particular group getting drawn should have been 1 in 1792.
  2. Not a fan of the gold medal team match happening on Day 1. But due to the placement matches, rugby gets to work around the unwritten rule where no athlete should end their competition before the Opening ceremony...
  3. It would have been 100% correct in handball.
  4. Sadly looks like Touloupis withdrew. Down to 37 entries. https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Definite Entries LFJWC Final 2022 - Leipzig (GER) - V2.pdf
  5. Welp, it has been a while since I liked a mainstream song as much as I like this one.
  6. Of course not. The stories became longer, repetitive and painfully predictable by day two. Quit on day three if my memory serves me.
  7. I doubt it... He is reportedly (and rightfully) getting blacklisted over this. Sure, publicity is publicity, but one would have to be a fool to throw his career away for a stunt.
  8. Cool, so I didn't miss much again. Haven't watched it live since Parasite won.
  9. I have enjoyed Licorice Pizza and Drive My Car this year. Especially Licorice Pizza which went above and beyond any expectations. They are the two highlights. Too bad, but not surprising, that they will be getting snubbed. Even if Drive My Car takes the International category. Meanwhile, I just don't get the hype around the dread that was Worst Person in the World. Saw it ways back at the Zagreb Film Festival and didn't like it. It was actually one of like two films which got no applause at the end of the projection. Unlike previous years, I didn't really follow the nominations much. Haven't seen either The Power of the Dog or CODA. And I don't really plan to based on... everything.
  10. This must be a bad joke, right?
  11. Yeah, R/K did really well in Beijing, where they bagged a PB in a low-scoring competition. They have the potential to be more than just a pair who lucked out once on a technicality.
  12. Well, yeah, looks like they gave up on Kyiv and Kharkiv. Now it's all Donetsk and Lugansk, but even in Donetsk it is not going well. Nobody wants to be "liberated" apparently.
  13. Okay, something must be up with the Latin America this year. Double victory this week for Joao Victor Oliva in Jerez. Pretty impressive achievement on the European soil. Both scores are personal bests (and national records). Scorecard includes a whole plethora of 8s, 8.5s and 9s for the piaffe, as per usual for Oliva and Escorial... https://online.equipe.com/en/class_sections/661009 https://online.equipe.com/en/class_sections/661395 Maria Aponte secured her WCh qualification earlier this week, while Jose Beca earned the first out of two required qualification scores in Jerez. Grand Prix riders from are starting to come out of woodworks. While their scores are still not quite high enough for the World Championships, they are definitely building something for the Pan Ams, at the very least.
  14. Medal for Loena! What a great program to watch.
  15. Apparently they plan to race as scheduled despite being in a war zone.
  16. Well, their Beijing pair got suspended over a lip gloss.
  17. Absolutely amazing score of 72.348% for Julio Mendoza Loor & Jewel's Goldstrike today. They look amazing and there is so much promise. This is their second competition. Last week they made a debut, and the French judge immediately awarded them 75% (the average was 68%). Today the British judge awarded them 77%. So there really is something big coming up for Ecuador here... https://results.equestrian-hub.com/show/3008/dressage/45396
  18. Funny thing is that he was replaced by the commentator who is known to be a Russophile... I immediately switched to the Eurosport Player upon hearing his voice. EDIT: Also, Duhamel is far from an innocent bystander in all of this. But I guess it's easier to get away with it on Twitter (surprise, surprise).
  19. Well, at least the champions skated cleanly and posted a PB. This would have been worthy of a top 4 in Beijing.
  20. Dear Lord. Ashley Cain fell on the jump and stayed down. Program aborted.
  21. Japan totally blows it. Miura was all over the place. Medal for James/Radford. EDIT: Or not. What a gift from judges.
  22. Yeah, their Winter program got basically cancelled immediately after Beijing...
  23. Would be quite an achivement if Russia ends up losing Crimea to Ukraine (even if it had special authority).
  24. Well, a gold medal is pretty amazing for us. I believe it is the first one from WEYOF. And all our previous medals came in alpine skiing, and some time ago. Had some hopes after Dante placed 2nd in the qualification yesterday (in his group), so while not entirely unforeseen, still pretty great.
