Saudi and UAE participated in a football tournament in Qatar and their football teams travel (or used to travel) to Qatar for AFC Champions League, they are a bit moody in these things, UAE for example didn't participate in Asian Shooting Championships in Qatar (which was Olympic qualifier in probably the only sport they are good) it's not really Arabian countries vs Qatar, it's Saudi and UAE and maybe Bahrain , none of them are relevant in wrestling, so it won't be a problem. Bahrain has 2-3 good naturalized wrestlers but I'm sure nobody misses mercenaries if Bahrain decides to not participate (which I highly doubt)

just heard one of my relatives has died from Corona today evening in Tehran, not a close relative (brother of my sister's husband) and not a good guy, but when you hear such thing about someone you know in person that feels a bit different. at least everybody in my family now understands the danger and will be more careful. personally I believe panic isn't necessarily a bad thing. that's the only way you can control this virus. people have to understand how serious it is and cut their contacts and follow the advises.

I heard some rumors today that indicates two countries as possible host, exactly those 2 you mentioned ! but on other hand, I also heard Jordan is considering postponing Taekwondo AQT, so that doesn't make sense to host Wrestling AQT with much more number of athletes and guests and beside that they are VERY weak in wrestling even referees help or fixing the draw won't give them quotas.

I'm not sure if that's possible to make such big change. I think extending the deadline is probably more possible. btw IWF also uploaded Cuban tournament results, no North Korea as expected. Colombia is the last chance for Om

all of PRK notable weightlifters already participated in 5 events and all of them only need to register in another event and participated at weight-in, they don't have to lift anything. I brought up Om because he is the only one needing 2 ! IWF finally updated its Olympic ranking with some recent results. the only remaining events are 3 in Cuba, USA and Colombia (Cuba and USA events are already done, I don't have their results though) + continental championships checking the results @heywoodu favorite athlete Om Yun-Chol still needs 2 more results to qualify. since the start of COVID-19 outbreak PRK didn't participate anywhere. even if PRK participates at the continental championships, Om still needs one more result. surely PRK didn't send a team to USA, did he participate in Cuba ? or has plans for Colombia event ? if not he is 100% out of the Olympics. he doesn't need anything special. just has to participate and lift something mediocre.

Iran beat Uzbekistan in boxing when was the last time that happened ? 2014 I guess I really can't understand these judges, to me when I was watching, Mousavi lost the 1st round, still to my surprise the score was 4-1 in his favor. then to me he was better in the 2nd round, I was confident but yet the score was 4-1 for UZB ! the only judge who gave the first round to UZB, gave this one to Mousavi ! it seems some of them just give points randomly. so we will have 4 in the final box-off , 2 of them will be huge favorite,

actually they were pissed after the first round, but then specially from the 3rd round they talked like they never said those things if someone watched the last 1-2 minutes and listened to them it was like Jordan dominating the entire bout. I think there are only 5 people in Jordan who can throw punches properly and all of them are qualified for the Olympics ! maximum result from your investment

Smart decision by Iranian coach throwing the towel , it's impossible to beat UZB/KAZ with these judges even if you punch as good as them. Shahbakhsh was really angry at the coach for doing that. but I think that was the right decision. but I wonder if he is allowed to box in the box-off ? I mean when you withdrew in middle of the bout and there is small cut near the eye is it possible to not let him continue the competition ? I think if he is allowed he will have a very good chance against Hong Kong. he should do what our 52kg boxer did, after the first round against the Olympic Champion from UZB, coaches told Ahmadi-Safa to let it go, the rest of the bout was something like "OK dude, I won't punch you if you don't punch me" so nobody in semifinal but we will have plenty of guys at the repechage. that was expected since most of our guys had to face UZB/KAZ/judges in the QF.

at least 29 people died in past 72 hours for alcohol poisoning here ! I use the word at least because no organization collects such data nationwide, I read health officials from 3 provinces announcing 20+7+2 deaths for that reason. why ? because there were some stupid things in social media (instagram mainly) about drinking alcohol will make your body immune to the virus. amazing how much stupid people can be

2020 Asian Fencing Championship is South Korea is now totally cancelled. they will consider 2019 results for the World Ranking. they are still trying to find a host for the AQT which was supposed to be held alongside the Asian Championships.

Yes, actually if it was a good thing I would say the Italians are making up the numbers to stay ahead everyday ! kind of reminds me the last days of Olympic qualification period in 3x3 basketball. where NOCS were adding points left and right to qualify

in past few days Iran announced some scary statistics usually at noon each day, but then Italy beat it by something more scary few hours later and since everything is unique about Iran, even quarantining is unique here ! nobody can enter Mazandaran and Gilan provinces but people can leave them ! it's like China banning everybody from entering Wuhan but then let everybody leave the city !

according to our boxing federation news section: Shahin Mousavi got robbed in the quarterfinal he will have a chance to fight in the repechage only if the Chinese boxer manages to beat Kazakhstan in the semies which is unlikely so unfortunately Shahin Mouasvi is most probably eliminated. really ?! unbelievable they don't know the rules. Mousavi is listed to fight Uzbekistan tomorrow in the repechage and they don't even know that.

Well well, I think 2020 can be the first time Iran don't qualify a boxer for the Olympics, (not counting years Iran didn't participate) and i prefer to not talk about judges and officiating, this is boxing after all. I'm not sure even if I follow the competition anymore. watching a sport where one judge scores 30-27 for boxer A and another one scores 30-27 for boxer B is a waste of time. but then I know i will come back tomorrow, there is nothing to do these days when you are almost in quarantine

I think with results so far, quota is guaranteed for Iran in men's team sabre. right ? China can't catch Iran even if they win gold in the next World Cup (assuming it doesn't get cancelled) our fencers are tired of staying in Europe for so long, they will come back home after this WC and won't go to Hungary (or anywhere else) Mojtaba Abedini is already home and in Luxembourg we only have 3 fencers with no coach and nobody else with them !

well if you are not in a terrible situation they can't do much for you at the hospital , so better stay at home and leave those valuable beds for patients really in need. I don't know about Italy but here in some cities (specially Qom and Rasht) hospitals are already full. Iran's health system is (or was) relatively good but when the economy is ruined, the health system had huge budget cut therefore we have this disaster now. I think 5 years ago Iran could manage it much better. that's just your problem. not ours well Iran economy was already destroyed, this coronavirus makes things worse. even though I believe most people don't care about money right now. health comes first. we will feel the financial disastrous results few months later. sometimes it's hard to believe how come some people can be this stupid and reckless , everybody knows the danger but yet since we are getting close to the "new year holidays" there are people traveling to touristic cities, most of them already in critical conditions. they finally decided to start some kind of quarantine here. all roads to Northern provinces of Mazandaran and Gilan (next to Caspian sea) are blocked. some other provinces specially Isfahan and Southern provinces will do the same most probably from tomorrow. still no news of Tehran and Qom doing that, of course we are having +1000 cases per day only because they are testing more people. the real number is probably much more but most people prefer to stay at home (if their situation is not that bad) and not go to the hospitals, they are not in the stats. checking the stats, all 31 provinces are officially involved now. Alborz province (where I live) is 6th behind Tehran, Qom, Gilan, Mazandaran and Isfahan. all of them touristic provinces and yet you need military force to block the roads and stop people from traveling exactly to where they shouldn't go !

today the best thing I could find to watch was Pan-American Wrestling Championships today was first day of Greco and Pan-Am countries are much weaker in Greco comparing to freestyle. so the level wasn't great only few days before the OQT that was still interesting for me to see some of those wrestlers (registered for OQT) in the list, even though some of them just registered and then withdrew (just to be eligible for the OQT) that was really disappointing to see only 2 wrestlers in two of non-Olympic weights (55 and 72) and nobody at 63kg ! (probably just one from USA and they cancelled the event) I understand this is the Olympic year but wrestling isn't only and only about Olympics. (apparently that's the case for most countries in that continent) 3 weights were interesting for me, 67kg just to see Ismael Borrero , this guy is really hard to stop, I know the level was poor here but he is an all-arounder , he will be strong favorite for the gold in Tokyo. 97kg was the most interesting with all 4 favorites for quota entering, Rosillo pinned Hancock in group stage but then Hancock teched him in the final with two back to back front headlock throws Mejia and Perez are also not that bad but I can't see any of them upset Hancock and Rosillo in AQT. about 130kg, I don't know how Cuba is capable of produce such great wrestlers at super heavyweight, they have the great Lopez, and that guy Pino who had to switch to freestyle. another guy Acosta who won a world medal for Chile ! after all of them today still had another guy who manhandled Adam Coon in the final

according to Iranian wrestling federation, they received a message from UWW today , it seems they managed to find a host ! our federation was told the possible date is 3-5 April or 11-13 April UWW told them they are confident "that country" will most probably host the AQT (not a sure thing yet) but also told the Iranian federation to test its delegation (wrestlers, coaches etc) few times and bring all these documents to that host country ! UWW is still not sure what that host country will ask to let the Iranian team in. this message was a kind of heads up for the Iranian federation to prepare those medical requirements. in UWW message they mentioned that country is already hosting some events. I wonder who is that brave country ? Qatar ? Thailand ? or somewhere outside of Asia ? ps: right now there is no training camp in Iran, they sent all wrestlers home but the plan is to make the national camp something like a prison ! nobody out, nobody in. then invite a very limited number of wrestlers to train there. they are also talking to some countries (apparently Armenia) to host our wrestlers, making it easier to travel without that quarantine period.
