I’m not sure about those going for so far non confirmed relays. Might only take thise who can cover the five that are secure.

Squad announced tommrow. Who does everyone think will be the shock inclusions and omissions. Will they be 30 or will they take less or more. Will either of the non qualified relays be given discretion.

Marcus Mepstead has announced on social media he has not qualified for Paris.

Just her social media this weekend has been a little downbeat which is making me fear she hasn’t been selected. They were told last week ready for Tuesday’s announcement.

I am not sure Freya Anderson is going to be selected.

It will become clear if it’s not an agreed absence if they in Paris for individual events and don’t appear for the relay.

I’m still amazed just how long David Weir has carried on competing for.

The problem is with the invite system is you would be making people more aware of people you then turning down an offer to have them at the games. Rejecting invites is already controversial enough.

In terms of integrated events but obviously Athletics can’t have the exact same selection procedure becuase the weather has a big impact. A bad day of weather might mean few making a BST on that day which takes away the big attraction. And also MC events work for some classifications and events but others wont be practical so the timetable would be bigger. Plus do Athletics want to make the selection more high profile when that increases the coverage the rejecting of invites would get. It’s clear British Athletics doesn’t have the trust of it’s competitors swimming has.

They will take some discretionary picks but not enough to fill all 30 I suspect.

It does seem like the Europeans will be a focus so some of those are mainly targeting a spot they and know they too far off a GB Olympic time. (They will be the invite rejected category which could be where the drama is.)
