  1. Confirmed on Team GB’s social media as well.
  2. I bet the BBC are gutted - no real reason to show any live break dancing now.
  3. What is the estimated team size? 40? 50?
  4. Watch LA get a week of rain as well - an outdoor swimming venue is all nice when it’s sunny but when it’s raining it’s not a nice look.
  5. Also will we see more people doubling up on the 10000m and the Marathon in Athletics. could they do the open water swimming in Week 1?
  6. Do they want the Olympics to petter out on TV in the second week? Swimming doesn’t rate that well really..
  7. Maybe they won’t enter someone in the Omnium?
  8. Could have longer term consequences due to the impending post Paris funding model review is expected to undertake.
  9. Who will replace her in the team pursuit?
  10. Could be disaster for the funding going forward. If the narrative of the games being a big drop from Tokyo happens (I’m predicting 30-45 medals) then everything is on the table

  12. Sophie Cauldwell is quite bitter on her Instagram and angry with the federation.
  13. It’s hard to imagine having not one but two world class throwers in the same event as Sanderson vs Whitbread.
  14. The money is not there to support much funding. Don’t think people are prepared for just how much lower the whole funding for the next cycle could be. The whole idea of using lottery money to support elite athletes insetad of wider grassroots funding could be coming to an end.
  15. China winning swimming golds on Day 1 would destroy the swimming competition considering they shouldn’t be they.
  16. Sounds like a lot more will withdraw before the games.
  17. Protests are a major risk for sure. I’m not sure protestors will stop for the games. And considering polls show half the country are worried - and those disproportionately being in Paris.
  18. Me. Some people don’t like me calling out doping.
  19. China’s doping has ruined this sport at this games. This should be kicked out., https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/14/world/asia/china-swimming-doping.html The three Chinese athletes revealed to have tested positive earlier, in 2016 and 2017, were no ordinary swimmers: Two would go on to win gold medals at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, and the third is now a world-record holder. All three are expected to contend for medals again at the Paris Games in July.’ In its report, China even identified the three athletes by name: Wang Shun, who at the Tokyo Olympics became the second Chinese man to win an individual gold medal in swimming; Qin Haiyang, the current world-record holder in the 200-meter men’s breaststroke; and Yang Junxuan, who was 14 or 15 at the time of her positive test in 2017 but went on to win gold and silver medals at the Tokyo Games.
