  1. Oh... yeah. Sorry I had a brain fart. Duh, everyone will get a second chance.
  2. Nice, now Tamás Lőrincz can finally win his gold as there are no Koreans in his event (he lost the final against Kim in 2012 and then lost to another Korean in 2016)
  3. We are sending Dániel Dósa (men's foil) and Anna Kun (women's epée) to the zonal qualifiers. That's probably the end of Olympic champion Emese Szász career, but I think the federation made the right call.
  4. Omar Salim won Hungary's first ever senior gold at the Taekwondo ECh. He's only 17 years old.
  5. The Hungarian team for the European Championships (bold for the gymnasts who will compete in all-around) Men: Krisztián Balázs, Szabolcs Bátori, Ádám Dobrovitz, Zoltán Kállai, Krisztofer Mészáros, Dávid Vecsernyés Women: Zsófia Kovács, Zója Székely, Sára Péter, Csenge Bácskay
  6. Maybe? The male Hungarian athlete of our mixed double said in an interview that the world ranking is pretty much done for that event if ITTF won't announce a new competition before the Games, so technically he already qualified for Tokyo.
  7. What does it mean for the Olympic qualification and the world ranking that there officially won't be any World Table Tennis tournaments before the Games? Like, is the world ranking pretty much done for Tokyo?
  9. You had one athlete in W1x, she finished 8th.
  10. The Hungarian team for the European Championships (wrestlers who already qualified for Tokyo in bold) Greco-Roman 60kg: József Andrási 63kg: Erik Torba 67kg: Máté Krasznai 72kg: Róbert Fritsch 77kg: Tamás Lőrincz 82kg: László Szabó 87kg: Viktor Lőrincz 97kg: Balázs Kiss Freestyle 61kg: Richárd Villhelm 65kg: Iszmail Muszukajev 70kg: Dániel Antal 74kg: Csaba Vida 125kg: Dániel Ligeti Women's 55kg: Mercédesz Dénes 57kg: Ramóna Galabos 62kg: Marianna Sastin 75kg: Zsanett Németh This will be the final international event for World Champion Balázs Kiss before he retires. And as you can see, this will be the "warm-up event" for our wrestlers who qualified for Tokyo at the WCh in 2019. Korpási is "taking a break" after the successful European qualifiers.
  11. So in the end was the unlucky nation that missed out. The Turkish athlete got really lucky in M1x with how this went down, he qualifies with a 6th place, despite being stronger in LW2x with a 4th place.
  12. Pétervári-Molnár Bendegúz kvótát szerzett evezésben.
  13. A nation can only win two quotas if they win two or more events (and haven't won any quotas previously). "Except as provided below, at the Continental Qualification Regattas, an NOC may qualify a maximum of one (1) boat." "For NOCs not having qualified any boats at the 2019 World Rowing Championships and having two boats placed first in two events at the Continental Qualification Regatta, both first placed boats shall qualify."
  14. Before M1x: secured two quotas, secured one quota. We have three open spots left for three other nations, it's most likely between .
  15. So LM2x is done, the other 3 events can turn into a bit of clusterfuck depending on how M1x will go.
  16. Quotas W1x: M1x: LW2x: LM2x: Next in line W1x: M1x: LW2x:
  17. Quotas W1x: M1x: LW2x: LM2x: Next in line W1x: M1x: LW2x: LM2x:
  18. Quotas W1x: M1x: LW2x: LM2x: Next in line W1x: M1x: LW2x: LM2x:
  19. is looking really strong for two quotas here, I think they will likely win at least two events.
  20. More like the people working at the Hungarian Federation are simply clueless, which doesn't surprise me given the state of the sport here.
  21. Does anyone here know what's actually going on with the qualification system of this sport? I am asking this because the Hungarian coaches claimed that Veronika Mitykó needs a Top14 placement at the ECh in 71kg to qualify for Tokyo in 76kg. She finished 9th today. Is that really enough? I find this hard to believe, but who knows what's the deal here at this point with so many countries having reduced quotas and boycotting the Games.
  22. 2.5 million Hungarians have been vaccinated, 25% of the population. And as Orbán promised, we will start opening up tomorrow.
  23. Zsolt Petry, the Hungarian goalkeeping coach at Hertha Berlin just demonstrated how to get fired with one easy step. He had an interview with a Hungarian newspaper... From DW: Speaking to the Magyar Nemzet daily on Easter Monday, Petry, 54, called the EU's immigration policy the "moral downfall" of Europe, while also criticizing RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi for his public support of same-sex marriage. "I don't know what led Peter to stand up for people with homosexual, transvestite and other gender identities," said Petry of his compatriot Gulacsi, who took to Facebook in December to denounce a constitutional change that effectively banned adoption for LGBTQ couples in Hungary. "If I were him, as an athlete, I would concentrate on football and not comment publicly on sociopolitical issues," said Petry, who made 38 appearances for Hungary as a goalkeeper and was voted Hungarian player of the year in 1990. Aaand he's gone 24 hours later, they fired him. What did he think, that nobody will notice this at Hertha? Free speech is good and all, but any sane person knows how Western companies react when one of their employees does something like this. I guess Petry now can come back home, most Hungarian clubs won't fire him, his views are normal here, while Gulacsi's liberal views made him an enemy in the eyes of many Hungarians, despite him being one of the best Hungarian goalkeepers ever.
