  1. It's been like this for a decade now, they rule with an iron fist, quashing any dissident.
  2. Looking at the final Olympic tournament, will likely be the top seeds. Despite their performance here I don't think got enough points to surpass so they will be a third seed and probably be part of the group of death.
  3. The following nations are not eligible to compete in their respective continental qualifiers: Africa: None Asia-Oceania: Europe: Pan America: The following may compete in their respective continental qualifier, but may qualify only one boat (two if they both finish first) Africa: Asia-Oceania: Europe: Pan America: Everyone else can compete and qualify up to two boats.
  4. Third place on the medal table is a great showing. Hope this translates to the senior level in the future
  5. Funny enough, if Canada fails to grab the women's eights quota they will be eligible for the Pan American regatta. They won't do this, but if they intentionally drop the quota they can easily grab the men's single sculls quota (maybe even a second with the women's 1x or men's L2x should they send a boat) and then grab the eights boat (and potentially others) in the final qualifiers. Again playing with fire with a potential medal contender...
  6. The full European regatta. Basically, all nations with two or more qualified boats are banned. Nations with only one qualified boat may compete, but can only qualify one boat (unless they win gold in 2+ events then they can qualify two). Nations with no qualified boats may compete and can qualify up to two boats.
  7. I know. It just defeats the point of "this sport is unique and played by a bunch of non-typical nations" when an 8-team tournament will likely contain . A 12-team tournament increases the chances of multiple of and a second Caribbean nation to qualify (also would be guaranteed a spot now) But yes any team sport will probably have 6-8 teams.
  8. That's the risk of having an 8-team cricket tournament. India isn't guaranteed to qualify, though they would be the favourites. A 12-team tournament will likely prevent the issue and also qualifies more South Asian nations which helps showcase the difference of the sport. We just need to get around those pesky athlete quotas.
  9. No sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing are now considered to be core sports
  10. Not the greatest championships for Canada, but that's to be expected given the level of our program. Remember when rowing use to be our best performing sport? Thankfully the other sports have step up.
  11. Not looking good for us going into the final quarter.
  12. Yeah, once it became apparent that Italy would win the group I knew the United States would take it easy. Still huge credit for taking the opportunity.
  13. Canada playing a bit better now, but Spain isn't done yet.
  14. Big win for Lithuania, now they face Serbia while the United States faces Italy.
  15. Pretty much, the IOC continued adding more events without increase athlete quotas. Based on the Olympics of the 90s we really should be at the 11,500 - 12,000 athlete range.
  16. Shocking results The bigger question is whether New Zealand goes for the singles quota or lets the other Pacific nations fight it out.
  17. Yes so unless Iran makes a comeback the teams which advance to the OQT are plus the 11 teams in the second round which don't get an Olympic quota. are eliminated from Olympic qualification
  18. Correct. They have also advanced to the Olympic Qualification Tournament
  19. I was nervous with Brazil, they are the type of team to catch an overconfident team off-guard. Spain will be tough.
  20. In the event that they are all eliminated then Brazil likely gets the quota. They currently have a +35 differential while Puerto Rico has a +11.
  21. With Canada's loss to Brazil, Group L's final matches are now elimination matches. Here are the permutations for the winners of each match Winner 1. 2. 1. 2. 1. 2. 1. 2.
  22. Brazil is trying their hardest for the upset...
