  1. I know it's due to quota limitations, but the team events at the Olympics should be expanded to 12 (obviously the individual spots would expand too). No event in the Olympics should be any smaller than 12 entrants.
  2. currently in a Olympic qualifying position in the men's 4x200m relay It likely won't last going into the 2024 World Championships.
  3. Just did a major update to the first post. We have gone into more detail, now each nation (except Russia as they are too big) has a list of which events they have a chance to qualify in. I welcome all suggestions. Remember, unlikely is okay, near-impossible is not.
  4. European women are having a bad time. Collectively, they have only won 3/33 medals so far while the men have 17/37
  5. We should do a comparison against the Latest World Championships Medal Table, if they aren't any more accurate then doing basic counting of defending champions then their method isn't good.
  6. Their predictions are based on previous results, richer nations tend to compete more often in world cups/series events so their rankings are inflated.
  7. Pudar with the top seed. It would be huge for Bosnia and Herzegovina if she could medal
  8. I have a feeling it might come down to bracket placement, who can avoid the top teams the longest.
  9. Good to see Canada in the men's 4x100m free finals. I feel the top 8 will easily make the Olympics, probably up to the top 12 is safe.
  10. Embracing smaller and existing venues would go a long way in preserving the games. While unpopular, I do think they should make swimming optional. If a potential host city doesn't have one it is very costly to build, even compare to other venue specific sports. While most nations compete in it only a small handful actually win medals.
  11. Unfortunately it might be time for you take a break from Wikipedia. Either lay low until you are off their radar or completely conform to the Wikipedia style.
  12. Canada's lack of finish on display again...
  13. They are the best, but aren't unbeatable. No doubt the United States will be the favourites, but a good day for the Netherlands could see the upset.
  14. South Africa with a top 12 finish, that pretty much seals their Olympic participation next year.
  15. While in theory we could have 180 athletes in practice it will be a lot less. From experience at least half of the synchronized divers will compete in the individual events. Also the 12 quotas at the 2024 Worlds are only awarded to the finalists so nations with already the max quotas (e.g. China) or if the individual already qualified at the 2023 Worlds/Continental Qualifier will not gain any more quotas. In fact, we will have to go through the "additional divers" route in order to complete the list.
  16. I don't think it will be a catalyst for them to join Asia. It's not like the Commonwealth Games provide much sporting opportunity for Australia/New Zealand. It's only one event every four years. Australia/New Zealand seem to be content on focusing on World Championships/World Cup events. Money wise it is still expensive for them to travel to Asia for continental events. This isn't Europe where you can drive to multiple European countries (or take a cheap airline).
  17. Qualifying in synchro events does not disqualify you qualifying in individual events. Only the top 12 qualify. In fact, if a nation wants they could have 8 men and 8 women in diving though typically some of the athletes compete in both individual and synchro.
  18. The first question was already answered. For this question, only the first place diver is eligible for quotas, if they already qualify via the 2023 World Championships then no one gets the quota
  19. Thailand was one of the bigger remaining nations not yet qualified (was third if you exclude Russia and Belarus). Here's what the top 10 looks like in terms of qualification chances. 1. - 73 2. - 67 3. - 52 4. - 46 5. - 37 6. - 33 7. - 30 8. - 27 8. - 27 10. - 26
  20. Maybe if they finish last at the 2024 World Championships, though it might not matter if they beat Argentina here and get a top 12 finish plus they already finished 13th last year. It's probably enough to convince the NOC that they are viable enough to compete. They really lucked out in getting the weakest team in their group.
  21. I've considered women's water polo to have 10 competent teams: China is kind of wavering now, but I still feel they can easily win over any nation not listed above (maybe they lose to due to Olympic host investment influx) and can still defeat Canada. With South Africa presumably taking the African quota again and France taking the host quota that means one of the above nations (minus already banned Russia) will miss the games. Obviously Canada is hoping for the United States to qualify here if not, they are likely to be the odd nation out.
