  1. Overall this has been a poor showing for the America continent, especially in the men events. Only Venezuela qualified in a men's team event while Canada and United States only qualified in the women's team events. Colombia was entirely shut out as all of the nations have to rely on individual quotas in order to have a decent size team.
  2. Pretty much. The Netherlands has qualified three female quotas in track cycling. They could add a fourth athlete by adding someone from a different cycling discipline to the track team.
  3. No, Netherlands have been given two athlete quotas in team sprint. The only way for all three to participate is by having one of them compete in the Omnium.
  4. Kenya just upset New Zealand in the final group game.
  5. Yeah Greco-Roman is non-existent in Canada. Apparently 4/6 GR wrestlers are from Fredericton, New Brunswick. Maybe it's popular over there.
  6. I was hoping for a spot in the -97kg. It didn't help that US and Cuba did poorly at the world champs.
  7. Not a great day for Canada, just one wrestler. Qualifying at one of the final qualification tournaments will be hard. Cuba on the other hand has recovered nicely after not qualifying any freestyle wrestlers during the world champs. They already have four with a potential for one more.
  8. That's because Brazil took the Pan America quota for being the host nation. Canada will likely miss the Olympics unless they have a great performance tomorrow to finish above Italy.
  9. I'm a big fan of the Vanuatu team. I hope they can reach the Olympics, but unless they get a couple of great results it looks like they will finish just outside of a spot. The continental cup will be their best chance though they'll have to get past Australia and China.
  10. After the technical routine both Ukraine and Japan look safe. Italy is currently in third place with Canada and Spain behind about 0.5 and 0.8 behind respectively.
  11. Very nice for Canada, hopefully we can get a couple of men either in this tournament or the final tournaments.
  12. This thread will keep track of NOCs not yet qualified and suggest sports and events in which they could qualify their first athletes. Tripartite athletes do not count, but the nations will be noted if they do have one. If someone has a suggestion don't hesitate to say so. I am quite lenient so unlikely is okay, impossible is not. Nation List * Nation has been given a tripartite invitation Afghanistan* Andorra* Belize* - Athletics (Men's 400m Hurdles) Bhutan* Brunei* Central African Republic* Chad - Athletics (Men's Marathon) Comoros Equatorial Guinea Federated States of Micronesia* Guinea Laos* Liechtenstein* - Swimming (Men's 400m IM, Women's 800m Free) Macedonia* - Swimming (Men's 400m IM, Women's 200m Free) Malawi* Maldives Malta* - Athletics (Women's Long Jump) Marshall Islands Mauritania Monaco* Nepal* Nicaragua* Palau* Sierra Leone Somalia - Athletics (Men's 5000m) South Sudan - Athletics (Men's Marathon) Swaziland - Athletics (Men's 200m, Women's 200m) Timor-Leste* Togo* Tuvalu Yemen* Total NOCs without tripartite 31 Total NOCs including tripartite 12
  13. No, Ireland qualified one in women's keirin
  14. Two for keirin and sprint, one for omnium
  15. It doesn't look like it based on the wording of the qualification document.
  16. We will qualify in the keirin. The omnium doesn't look likely though
  17. The document says men get 3 while the women get 2. There's a quota difference in the Omnium too (6 for men and 5 for women)
  18. Japan has been getting weaker lately, as in they are no long a tier above the other Asian teams, plus Asia is pretty strong in women's football. It is almost sad that the continent only gets two spots. Australia only need 1 more point to qualify. The second spot will be between China and North Korea
  19. Congrats to Trinidad and Tobago. Too bad for Suriname, but he needed Colombia to win the team quota to have any chance. Also the Americans only get 2 Women's Keirin spots
  20. Yes, the teams that will join you will be known after the team competition. Basically you'll want Europe and Canada to win the three quotas to have the best chance (though Japan will likely grab one of the quotas)
  21. If I understand this correctly you have qualified for the second free routine
  22. Can anyone confirm about the qualification of duets. If I am reading this correctly we will have our 20 duets known after the first free routine and then the eight which missed a spot will compete in a second free routine in order to get the final 4 spots. That's how it is worded in the FINA bulletin for this event, but the qualification page doesn't speak to this two tier qualification.
  23. Seven nations Canada, Chile, France, Italy, Japan, Spain and Ukraine
