  1. Don't be part of that generation with no attention span
  2. But it is a sprint 100/200/400 = sprint 800/1500 = middle 5000/10000 = long
  3. While true, that doesn't explain why the men can't even make it out of the heats while the women are winning medals. Swimming isn't that deep in talent.
  4. Especially when you compare it to the men's side, it's hard to say its from management, maybe we got very lucky.
  5. You are correct. Someone should fix the Wikipedia page
  6. Shame about Ruck, 200m freestyle had medal potential for her. I imagine she'll be dropping the 50m freestyle too since that's her weakest individual event. She could have potentially featured in 10 events and to be honest that's a lot for one swimmer, she'll likely only compete in the finals for most relays too. She could miss the mixed freestyle relay if she makes the 200m backstroke final since they are on the same session.
  7. Good choice. I think it was their best choice considering Kimberly Garcia will be busy with the torch, unless they wanted to go with a medalist from 2015
  8. From a race not overall, though it did move her from a huge lead to 12th due to her retiring during the next race.
  9. Even ignoring the daunting task of defeating the United States just for the opportunity to play for the quota, New Zealand may not take the quota. The federation is a bit strict. They also lost a good defense ("We finished in the top 10") by losing to Kazakhstan. They might go the South Africa route where they will decline the continent quota, but play in the final qualification tournament.
  10. I think the men's athletics team is stronger than the women's. At least in terms of medal prospects.
  11. For each relay qualified, a nation may enter up to two relay-only athletes (up to a max of 12 athletes)
  12. Quite happy for Hong Kong women for getting a quota. Very sad for Canadian men for failing, finishing in 13th. Our men's team is so weak now.
  13. FINA doesn't have it written on what happens to the redistributed quota if an athlete competes in both diving apparatuses. In 2016 Woo Ha-ram's quota was counted for the 10m Platform as was interestingly enough Patrick Hausding whom competed in both synchronized events and the 3m springboard, but not the individual 10m platform.
  14. Yeah, in diving China potentially sweeping the medals is still low. They did it in 2011 (before mixed events), the only other time it happened was in 1982 and that was from the United States and there were only four events.
  15. Mainland France also has surfing spots that are part of the World Surf League so it's likely that it won't be in Tahiti.
  16. To be fair, any group is a cake walk for Argentina. Canada has a chance for an upset, but Argentina would be the big favourites too.
  17. China technically qualified in duets too, but that will likely become a team quota soon. It'll be interesting to see whether or not New Zealand and South Africa keep the quota
  18. Here are the ten largest athletic teams so far qualified to the Olympics (I took the top three athletes for nations with more than 3 eligible athletes) 1. United States - 73 2. Jamaica - 32 3. Kenya - 31 4. China - 30 5. Great Britain - 26 6. Germany - 23 7. Poland - 21 8. Ethiopia - 20 9. Japan - 19 9. Russia - 19 Relative to last month, Canada and Spain both drop off after tying with Russia for 10th. Overall it was a big month for Great Britain whom gained 9 athletes, as many as the United States and one more than Jamaica. Japan had the least gains among the top 10 only adding a single athlete over the month. Overall 88 nations have qualified at least one athlete.
  19. Thanks everyone, we are now at the half-way point with 103 remaining nations
